The Greatest Blog Briefly lives up to its name...

At this point if you are regular readers of the greatest blog, sometimes you wonder if I am like Neil Young in the 1980's.
But briefly I had something somewhat interesting to write about.

Before we get to the interesting bit, ran five miles to make it to 633 miles for 2011. I will need to run 366 miles for the rest of the year.

It was the start of another kickball season and so I was on Haight Street and saw one of those dry erase boards with someone trying to decide if they should move to Seattle.
Hope they made the right choice..

Ok the interesting thing. While I was a referee for the game (I am done for the season!) a guy wandered past wearing a Gorilla outfit.
Then he wandered onto the pitch but luckily he lost interest. Thought I was going to have to call the game on account of the Gorilla.

Blood and Parking

A bunch of us went to the blood bank to donate blood. Turns out 5/7 were successful as two had just arrived back from a trip to Nigeria to get their money from a Prince and to get tattoos.
Afterwards we ordered Pizza. On some level I wanted to arrive at the same time as the food but then they would have ordered Pineapple. Between Spam and Hawaiian Punch I am not that all interested in going to Hawaii. Would not mind traveling to Israel but I need to sort out the time of year.

Had a dream where a tow truck was towing the cars in Clown Colony and they were falling off the sides. They were going to tow my legally parked car and I was going to yell at the drunk tow truck lady and she let it go and went barreling down the hill and ended up in West Virginia.

Costco and Podcasts

For years I would go to Costco right when it opened because I thought it was the easiest in/out. Turns out I was wrong because they do not open many registers.
Will now go at 10:30 and I am sure you are wondering how this became the greatest blog.

Been listening to quite a few podcast including Mike and Tom Eat Snacks. If anyone has recommendations on other funny ones let me know. They are the comedy albums of the 21st century.

Going on a bus trip today. Will need to sit near the front... Will probably not be an astronaut.

A trip to KMart in 2007 (Good times)

It has been two years and I was reflecting on some good memories.
Remembered taking my Sister and my Mom for lunch at the Green Turtle and then shopping at KMart in Edgewater on Black Friday in 2007.

Lunch was the typical fried fare and watched a bit of college football. JaMarcus Russel was still considered a possible football player.

We then went into KMart where most of the staff was wearing flannel Pajamas. I am not sure who had this idea but it was not a flattering look.
Chatted with the greeter while my Mom and Sister went around the store.

Caught up with my Mom and Sister on the cashier line and started talking to the cashier as It was the same conversation at the front of the store (she was also wearing flannel pajamas). Turns out it was not the same person.

The reason I am writing this is that this mundane trip to KMart turned out to be a great memory of my Mom as it was one of the last times. You never know that when in retrospect something will be a great moment.

At 601 miles

Yesterday I woke up in pain and my friend Oscar was texting me not to be so damn grouchy.
Was sitting on a bag of ice and had shpilkes (not being to sit down/relax)
I decided to cut the trip short and make my way back to Cloud City.

Anyway as soon as I drove away, about halfway through, my back was fine but I was exhausted and driving like that is not a party so I stopped in Davis and drank one of those canned Starbucks drinks, once again I was sorted out.

I think my back was partially psychosomatic and partially related to the awful mattress thing I slept on. Will be buying a top of the line air mattress for camping trips in the near future. Will be getting a tent that will make  the Weasley family jealous. (Tents are an area where $30 more gets you loads more.)

Today my back was feeling way better and I ran 5.5 miles to put me at 601 miles for 2011. In the next couple of weeks I will catch up to 2007 649 miles and 2009 628 miles.

Strings of motivation

This weekend I will be camping with Urban Diversion up in Placerville. One of my main motivations to go on this trip is to stopping at the chick fil a in Fairfield.
Will be stopping on the way up because it will be closed on the way down.
Someone was claiming there was one in San Francisco. Turned out it was Popeyes which is not the same thing at all.

I wonder if they had one in San Francisco would it lose its allure?

A damn good couple of days

Was driving the Marcusmobile into the city when I reflected on the last couple of days and thought, a damn good couple of days.
First off Mortified on Friday was great. Great venue, great audience, great show.

For the first time in about twenty seasons was on a team that won both the regular season and the end of season tournament.
Called Jason Kidd up to encourage him for the game against the Miami Heat.

The tournament was in the Presidio where you could see Golden Gate Bridge (bigger than a dinosaur) on one side and downtown San Francisco on the other.
We dispatched the cap blasting pink team in short order (made a diving 2nd chance of a catch) but then we had to face the dark blue team that gave us our toughest game of the season.

The first couple of innings were close but ARTD had a big 3rd and the streamers and fireworks came down!

(I am well aware that in the scheme of things winning a kickball league championship is not a big deal but it was a great day nonetheless)
In the area of sports competition, this was my best day since my senior year of high school when I won a race between Oxon Hill, Friendly, Parkdale, Bladensburg and Northwestern. My coach, rested most of the varsity runners, except for me and I won the race by about 30 seconds. To this day I do not look back when running...

Mortified Weather and (free) Pizza

On Friday I did Mortified at the DNA Lounge. Great show, great venue. The green room, which was mostly blue was huge compared to the cramped other venue.
At some point need to go through my other material to see if anything would be good.

The weather in Maryland right now is yuck yuck. When people stop me on the street to ask if I miss "the seasons" I wonder if they are boots. I do not miss snow or superhot weather BUT the weather in the Bay Area has got me thinking I am in London which means, mustn't grumble and I must mind the gap. Really overcast and Gloomy. I am sure it is bright and sunny 5 miles south.
Yesterday I used a number of my luncheon vouchers (Groupon, Homerun, Plum District). One thing that people say that is stupid, "there is no such thing as bad pizza". and "there is no such thing as a free lunch". The free lunch voucher for pizza was extremely mediocre. I wonder if I went back in time to Franks Pizza would I think it was subpar? I would not need a time machine, if it was still open...

The no one but myself to blame file: thai peppers

Had one of those Groupons that were going to expire so I met my cousin for lunch at Little Yangon in Daly City.
Our meal included these two small innocuous looking green peppers.

I ate one and a half of them. Then I felt like Homer Simpson in that one episode I never saw.
Was drinking loads of water. Next I had to excuse myself and put wet paper towels on my head to no avail.

Requested Ice and made a make shift ice pack.
Besides the welts the food was quite good.

Bigger than a dinosaur and the catalina wine mixer

On Saturday I was given a free voucher for a free Slurpee at the Union Street festival. When I was in high school used to be a big fan but I found it to be disgusting and chemical.

Yesterday I took the 28 to Fort Mason for a catalina wine mixer. I try to avoid the Muni because it is unpredictable and they have FAR too many stops.
Was helping some tourists explaining how to get to the Golden Gate Bridge. When we arrived at the bridge, the kid asked me, is that bigger than a dinosaur and felt that was the perfect thing to compare.
(As far as I am aware, the Golden Gate Bridge is bigger than most dinosaurs)
Music was good as they had a band doing 1980's Billy Joel covers.

Went to tacolicious on Chestnut. It was really good...

Weather and stuff

I really was not inspired to come up with a good title for this entry.
It is June 4th and it is Rainy like it is February. I do not mind the rain but I do not like it when the weather changes from one type to another within the same day.

Have not made an entry in a few days as I went to Maryland last week. Wanted to get a visit in before it was yuck yuck.

I need to purchase Cinnamon at some point in the near future.

Last night finally watched the original X Men because I wanted to see the prequel and wanted to be sorted out. Good movie. When I see video stores still open I am confused as their time has passed which is OK. I am sure the market for blank DVDs has gone away.
