Wants to find an example where someone has Schadenfreude towards their Doppelgänger

Went to Maryland for the Memorial Day Weekend. The weather was warm but not super hot but you could tell it would be right around the corner.
I learned a new term which was, "in the weeds" or weeded. I doubt I would be very good at being a waiter, especially in a grand cafe.

Happy that the seat next to me was empty on the airplane.

We spoke to a little kid who wanted us to look at the turtles. The Amish do certain things well but are lousy software engineers.

Laptop perspective

Yesterday while upgrading my phone I was telling to all of the randoms about the time when my Ford Pinto was stolen from the parking lot at Oxon Hill.
I did not think that today was going to have more in common with that September Day.

When I got to my car I discovered it was a bit disheveled and that someone had borrowed my 2009 Acer with the laptop. They did not steal the almonds or V8 juice.
Also my running shoes so the thief did not wear size 12.

(OK, the trunk of my car is a dumb place for a laptop....)

Was especially bummed because I thought my iPod touch was in the laptop bag (a very cool device)

Went to Best Buy to replace my laptop and also a couple of cables that were taken.
Today was an ad for Google Aps as no real data was lost.

The staff tried to sell me Microsoft Office and I reminded them that it was not 2002.

Wanted to give a shout out to Talenthook as they were very quick to respond to my situation and I was up and running.

Thoughts on the end of the world and annoyance with credit card minimums.

Yesterday was supposed to be the Rapture based on the well thought out calculations and unless we all got shifted to a parallel universe, then nothing really happened but in a way it got people talking about if it was the end of the world.
These types of predictions make sense from a pre-science World View when events like Comets, Earthquakes, Droughts, bounties were seen as divine actions.

I guess the take away is the very basic "live each day like its your last". I know quite a few people who assign a negative value to Monday and they trudge through the week to sit around and watch sports all weekend.
Upgraded my phone so I can countdown to the day when I will find the latency on that phone to be nonsense.

On another note, not a fan of places with arbitrary credit card minimums. Met someone for a beer at the Fish Bowl but due to the large amount of sports ball it was crowded. So went to a nearby place. Our bill was $12 but I was told that they had a $20 minimun on a credit card. As I did not have any cash, the other person had to pay. I will not be going back. (It is 2011 and I HATE paying cash...)

Run

Getting ready for one of the Sunset runs along the Marina green put on by my favorite fred container store, Fleet Feet.
Running is an odd sport where two people can have vastly different results and both walk away with the thought it was a good time.

It also acts as a reset button for my brain. If I could go back in time, I would tell myself to not stop running ( stopped running regularly from 1988 to 2007)
The Nike + has been a positive influence.

Yesterday was good as we won at kickball (kicked two runs in) and sang songs at Encore with loads of friends with trivia winnings

The end of the world and I am sneezing

Just got word that although we got applause our team name did not win.
I am sneezing like a cartoon mouse going through a pepper factory.

Last couple of days have been crummy/rainy but that is what gives you strawberries.
I do not like it when it is sunny and rainy at the same time.

Ran Bay to Breakers on Sunday and circled back into the chaos. If I had some sort of device that measured regret it would have been off the chart.
Some droogs and I were early for one party and late for another paint covered bout of nonsense.

None of this matters as the world is ending/sky is falling. I wonder if anyone on Alderaan predicted the end.
(For the record, I do not think the world is ending...)

More Adventurous travel...

While at Cinco De Mayo thing at a Mexican restaurant (where I did not have to pay the cover 1/the man) heard about a trip to India.
Got me thinking that I should get out of my comfort zone and visit parts of the world like India and Israel. (I am not going to Iran, Libya, Pakistan, North Korea etc)

going on a trip around the world would be good. I could provide solutions to everyones problems like not falling asleep on train tracks.

Beer + Dog + Skateboard = Choice of hilarity

To start off with, I did not have a camera to take any pictures.
One of the things I am working on is becoming more aware of how events trigger reactions.

Prior to kickball I went to Bruno's on Fillmore as they have $2.75 DogFish Head beer.
As it was a nice day I sat outside. This older woman with a cockapoo asked if she could sit at my table. I was happy to pet the dog.
Some clown goes down the street on a skateboard and like many dogs (and I am in agreement) this dog did not approve and ended going after the skateboard, pulling the table and spilling the beer.
At that moment, I decided not to choose the path of anger but to realize it was damn funny.

Not a superhero as far as I know.

This will be my last official Saturday run for a while and we met at the Beach Chalet. It was some sort of special Dutch Holiday at the Windmill. I would never want to wear wooden fred containers as I would be concerned about splinters but I guess they sorted that out.
Sometimes if I am at a store or dealing with someone I will say, just sort it out!
It was only a few of us running as we ran through Golden Gate Park. My foot started to go numb on the way back.
When I was done I was at 127 miles for the month (which is 15 miles more than January 2011 and 34 miles more than my previous best) and 447 miles for 2011.

On the way back to Clown Colony I saw a sign for BBQ and it turned out to be some sort of open house at Korean Central Presbyterian Church, so it was a bit different than most days. I guess it would not be a good time to joke about visting North Korea. It was a community event and I ended up meeting the Mayor Carol Klatt the chief of Police and David Canepa. It was one time that I sort of wished that I was dressed like a super hero because I imagine that super heroes end up talking to those types of folks quite a bit but to clarify, I am currently not, nor have I ever been a superhero (but I could be bitten by a radioactive Standard). It was a nice event and I am a big fan of kimchee

When I got home I saw that I was 2.85 miles away from very round numbers and despite having sore legs ran around the complex to get myself to 130 miles for the month and 450 miles for the year. I only need to run 69 miles a month to get to 1000 miles for the year.

Made my way to Oakland but did not bring a candle.
Tired and sore. Going to sleeping sleeping...
