Going to Long Beach or the first time that Twitter was actually useful

First off I kind of wish I was enigmatic. I am not sure what that means or entails but it sounds cool and mysterious.
Anyway was reposting some jobs on Twitter and I saw that Jet Blue was having one way tickets to Long Beach for $9.
(here are the jobs I am working on)
Even though I have been in California for a while, Southern California might as well be the south of France. I know nothing about it.
But as a goof I bought a round trip ticket on Jet Blue for $9 each way and with taxes it is $40 or less than a cab fare round trip to the airport.

I have been to Long Beach but I have no idea what is done there or what you do but I will be in Long Beach from May 11th in the Afternoon to May 12th, also in the afternoon.
So if anyone has an idea on what to do near Long Beach let me know.

Robot Pope

Quite a few times when I am walking down the street people stop and ask me, "what do you think about when you are running?"
For the most part, the big thought is why and when but yesterday I came up an idea for a science fiction called Robot Pope which was the Pope was replaced by a Robot
機器人教皇
It turns out, that you cannot translate things into Latin on Google translate. Hence the traditional Chinese.
Anyway I was plotting the plot but it turns out that someone else already came up with that idea.

On another note, the weather has been really nice. this is the weather on Saturday and Sunday is what I pictured before I moved to California. My East Coast idea about California was way off. It was mostly based on televisions shows.

Running, Pub Quiz and thoughts on Space Travel

I am not sure how much time after a running a half marathon you are supposed to take off but if I am going to every write that book about running two half marathons over the course of two weeks then I would need to get back into the flow of things.
Went out to the Marina Green a bit early and I wished I was a kite. We ran four miles which was from the Marina Green to what used to be Houston's or close to my old office back in 2005 to 2006. Used to walk from that spot to the spot o toiling. Even though running through Pier 39 and Fishermans Wharf involves a lot of tourist dodging, I like it.
Afterwards we went to the Bitter End pub Quiz where we reclaimed the title like Ali in Zaire. We had a large team like the Les Humphries Singers but some of us were like Jurgen Drews and the others were like the guy with the Samurai Sword. The music round included Kung Fu Fighting.
They should have more Simpsons questions. Turns out there is a Simpsons Futurama Cross Over Book

On another note, there has been quite a bit of news about the Space Program. I like the idea of more private companies getting involved with exploring space. An example is the X Prize is helping to encourage innovation. Going to the Moon was good for the United States as it got quite a few people interested in math and science. A government could build an interstate highway system but probably not an iPod or Google Docs (use many government websites and it is like time travel back to 2002)
I also like non-manned space exploration as there is no cost for space ice cream or getting people back but they are obvious limitations on what a computer or robot can do. I am excited about the discovery of extrasolar planets . An example of the private sector beating the public sector is how long it took for the NASA page to load compared to Wikipedia. On another note, the Wikipedia was updated with twenty two more planets compared to the NASA page.

Water Wings

People read my blog for different reasons, but today I considered giving gift giving advice.
If you are going to a baby shower, one of the best and most practical gifts is a pair of water wings.

When I was at a baby shower once (which was the same as the number of times in the NBA draft, ran for Mayor and been interviewed in de spiegel) I strolled in with a gift of water wings.
People thought it was odd but it turned out I was ahead of my time and way more practical than goldmyrrh and frankincense and far better than playing a drum.

Does anyone use the Yellow Pages Anymore???

For the past few weeks in my building near the mail boxes is a few stacks of yellow pages. On occasion I see them in the recycle bin.
In this day and age does anyone use the printed Yellow Pages anymore? or the White Pages?
If anyone uses the printed yellow pages let me know.

I think it is a tremendous waste of resources to delivery and dispose of an unused and unwanted resource.

Rain + Chewbacca V The Hulk + Donovan McNabb as a Redskin

In one area of my life I have no ambition. I take the first thing that comes along and then this may lead to a longer journey.
I am talking about parking spaces. If I see an easy to access spot, I park the Marcusmobile and then I walk. It may be a long walk.
This happened twice, once in the Mission and once in the Marina. I do not mind a walk when it is nice but when it is raining and I never have an umbrella (umbrellas are one of those things I do not like) it is no fun especially when I walk past way closer rock star parking spots.

So I went to the Moscone Center to go to Wondercon which is a comic book convention. Figured it would be a good chance to see people dressed up as either gamorrean guard or darth nihilus
Spoke to Erin Gray, Chewbacca and the Hulk and a couple of former professional wrestlers. I did not pay for any autograph photos because I am not sure I needed an autographed photo of either the Hulk or Chewbacca. Also saw the Soup Nazi. Not sure what I would do with a soup laddle that said, No Soup for You. If I ever owned a place I think I would be impatient with the customers.

Was going to go hiking with Urban Diversion but it was raining so I did some work out of a Starbucks. The song Everybody's Talkin' came on which is kind of fit

The big unimportant news of the day was that Donovan McNabb was traded to the Washington Redskins. As I do not go to the games and they will not be on TV that much, will maybe see a couple of games. Did the Redskins win the offseason again? Learned this via a text message and twitter status. I would not mind playing in the NFL just so I can give a generic interview, like, "yeah we played hard and gave 110%..." This may happen if there is an NFL Strike and then a flu epidemic.

April Fools Knockoffs

It is April Fools day and once again, I did not have any grand plans for a good joke.
I made some lame Facebook post about an anti-gravity room.

One of the things I have talked about for a while is getting Rosetta Stone and learning Spanish so I can understand the music they play at Taquería.
So as no one randomly sent me Rosetta Stone or it did not show up Standard Poodle style so I figured I would buy it, on Craigslist.
Made arrangements to meet the person from Craigslist at the Movie theater in Daly City. Turns out they are no ATM Mac Hines Mac Hines in the entire complex. That meant that the person selling the Rosetta Stone and I had to drive to the Wells Fargo. I go use my ATM card and it turns out it expired.
So I had to queue up at the bank with all of the people who queue up at banks while this person had to wait.
When we made the transaction, I looked closely at the package and noticed that Rosetta Stone's marketing department is either staffed by individuals whose strength is not spelling or it was a knockoff.
Will see how it works out. My Spanish will probably include something that is very offensive.
As I walked out of the bank (which was in a Lucky's) I was stopped by those people selling knock off colognes. I guess since they saw I had a knockoff Rosetta Stone, I would be in the market for something that almost smells like Drakkar Noir if I was across the stadium. I then said something about how cologne for the most part should be banned. Then it turned out that the guy who I bought the stuff needed a ride to the city so I dropped him off at AT&T Park.
Went to the Chestnut Street area for the 5K and I actually felt pretty good. It turned out I won, not one but two raffles but gave one away because I do not like people telling me how to do pushups. (I won entry into the next training program but I am undecided about the San Francisco half marathon. Will probably do it, it will keep me off the street and away from gangs.
