A flipped car on the Great Highway

One big advantage of running outside compared to the treadmill besides not being a gerbil, is that on occasion you see something interesting like the time I saw one guy chasing another guy and then the guy being chased picked up a log and then one of SF's finest pulled a gun on the guy with the log, no warning, just pulling out the gun....
Anyway I was running along the great highway (From Safeway to the zoo, luckily no geniuses released tigers) when I saw a car flipped over at a light and it was somehow perpendicular to the intersection (and on its side). My help was not needed so I ran to the turnaround point but stopped on the way back when the car did not explode so I stopped and the guy said his car flipped over because of the sand. I am not sure what speed he was going but I hoped all the times he was rushing around made up for this flipped car.

Handwriting

Luckily most of you will never have to read a hand (opposite of fred) written note from me. They are things that I do well and then, well there is handwriting.
In the 21st century, having good penmanship went with the ability to remember phone numbers or give people verbal directions (remember drive past the third gas station and then make a U turn) unless you are signing into something.
Went to a talk at the Sports Basement and there was a sign in sheet. Print my name and my e-mail. The person came by and asked me to print my name, I told him that it was printed.

A new start(er)

I do not think this story is an example of ESP or seeing the future but odd luck.
After lunch I drove into the city and I had this weird idea that I left the stove on so a few miles in I turned around because I saw the cost/benefit (wasting a few minutes/catching the building on fire) as worth it.
Walked in and saw that I did turn off the stove and I walked back out and got into the Marcusmobile and it would not start. Lights came on and such but would not start.
I really do not want to get a new car for a number of reasons including I do not like the practice of listing one car at a price. I think that is misleading and if you mislead, you are more than likely to be dishonest in other areas.
Called a tow truck (I have roadside assistance) and imagined weeks where I would be sans car (which is tough in Clown Colony).
Put the car in neutral and was able to start the car and it get it to Firestone so I did not need the tow.

They were able to get it fixed in about an hour.

Idea for a movie

So a well meaning friend alerted me that the show, "So you think you can dance" was having auditions in Oakland

And I imagined myself trying out for this show and it gave me an idea for a movie, or a show or some such nonsense which is to combine the "Dance Movie" genre with the parallel universe plot device that is overused in science fiction.

In the movie a dancer, (of course played by me) makes one last go (probably to save a community center) when a rip in the cosmic fabric causes an entry from an evil version of myself who enters the dance contest for an evil alien takeover.

Here is a Western where William Shatner plays two roles

Getting to 220 before 12/20/2010

I do better with public goals so I am going to set my goal for 12/20/2010 and that is get down to 220lbs.
That gives me 70 days to lose 32 pounds.

The reason that I chose 220 is that based on my height that would put me in a different category (the same calculator states that Donovan McNabb is obese)

Here are some steps that I will be taking
1) Eating out and drinking less. Not only would I save money but I have far more control of what is being used. Drinking less is of course always beneficial.
Not many people wake up with the thought, I really should have drank more..
Little bit of a social hiatus

2) More lean protein (Fish/Chicken/shrimp) over vegetables (Spinach/stir fry etc)

3) Bump up the miles to about 20 per week + Classes (at JCC) and lifting plus 5000 push ups between now and 12/20.
If watching Hulu or Netflix, on the eliptical.

4) Fewer sweets and processed foods.

5) Less coffee, more iced peppermint/green tea (from what I understand coffee stimulates appetite)

More of the following
-Bananas
-Salmon
-Spinach
-Almonds
-Fuji apples
-Tea
-Pineapples
-Sardines
-Oatmeal
-Lentils
-Black Bean dip
-Carrots

Less of the following
-Pizza
-Ice Cream
-Beer (Drinking overall)
-Chocolate
-Naan bread

Jury Duty

So I am in the basement of the Hall of Justice waiting for the status of jury duty.
I am pretty sure that if someone from the future told a 9 year old version of myself where I would be on 10/6/2010 I would be concerned that I was in the basement but then again I am sure the Super Friends have a fairly extensive support staff.

Library Queue Faux Pas

Went to the Daly City library to pick up a book that I had placed on hold. I walked up to an open Librarian and I got the stink eye from this lady checking out books about the saints.
When I was done with my transaction she announced my transgression to the assembled crowd.
I said that I was not aware that there was a single queue and it was not my intention to bypass the crowd (but honestly, they should have a VIP line as I am the winner of the why I love my library contest, but I may have been in the kids division)
I could imagine a queue rivalry with this woman similar to the Washington Mutual at the corner of Polk and California.

Market street the ugly and the good

For some odd reason I was walking down central market and I came across a situation that showed the ugly/evil and tremendous kindness.
Two women were at the wrong place and time and were punched/pepper sprayed during an altercation they were not involved with. The older woman was rather frail and not doing well with what happened. A guy who knew either women was helping them and pouring water in their eyes. I called the police and waved them over. Not sure how someone who punches/pepper sprays a frail older woman sleeps at night.
