Islands and

A while ago I had the horrible idea of renting a cotton candy Mac Hine for my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary.
It was going to just show up with no explanation. That is what I think is endlessly funny.

Was helping a friend move from the outer Mission to the Sunset and I saw that one of nearby shops rented cotton candy mac hines.

One of the other opposite of freds had to call in sick which is the funniest thing ever...

Emerald Across the Bay and the start of the kickball season (compare myself to OJ Simpson and Joe Namath...)

Sunday had quite a bit going on between the Emerald Across the Bay and the start of the kickball season.
I always question my wisdom of signing up for races whenever I wake up before Asha on a Sunday morning.
I do like driving into the city on Sunday Mornings.

But then when I am done, I feel good.
Limped back to the Marcusmobile to make it across town to Golden Gate Park to make it to the start of Kickball for 2010.
(my Wednesday team starts on well Wednesday...). I kind of wished we all wore name tags.
The first day always reminds me of the beginning of every Harry Potter book when they make their way to Hogwarts.

As my team from last season I will be on Morningwood which is good. This is sort of like OJ Simpson on the 49ers or Franco Harris/Jerry Rice on the Seatle Seahawks. It will be a fun season.

The Beatles and the Star Wars Prequels Rolling Stones

One of the reasons that the Beatles are the greatest rock band ever is that when they stopped, they stopped.
George Harrison did not tour with Pete Best and call themselves the Beatles. Paul McCartney did use Ringo Starr as a drummer several times.
Many other bands (I am looking at you Beach Boys) trudged along in a pathetic series of line ups but when the Beatles were done, for the most part they were done (I am not counting the talking over John Lennon's answering machine that they did in the 1970's)
They started off doing a mix of covers and simple songs before they got moving in the Revolver/Rubber Soul through Abbey Road. They defined the sound of their time not adjusted such as the Rolling Stones with Emotional Rescue and Miss You (or the Grateful Dead and Shakedown Street).
When they broke up, they broke up. That was the end. No reunion tours, no weird albums trying to fit in with the times.

Now the Beatles of Science Fiction movies was the original Star Wars Trilogy. The Star Wars Prequels were the equivalent of Ringo Starr and George Harrison popping over on Full House calling it a Beatles Concert.
George Lucas is coming out with a Baby Jedi series which is like the Beatles coming out with a remake of Yellow, o wait....

Two of my favorite boxers, Marvin Hagler and Lennox Lewis retired and did not come back with silly comeback after silly comeback. Compare Barry Sanders to Jerry Rice in a Seahawks uniform.
Leave the party before you need to.

Listen to Pet Sounds, watch Full House, be sad...

Anything but not everything

Someone said somewhere, you can have anything you want, but not everything. Sort of like the nonsense with the cake and eating it.
I love expensive sandwiches and I love running, but combining that without much regard for the the clock. I felt like Michael Scott in that episode of the Office where he ate the pasta before running.
I was out of it from the time change, traveling, Austin etc... So instead of running with the group I ran along the water.
No sandwiches within five hours of running. Sometimes the key to happiness is the order in which you do things.

That takes me to St. Patricks day. For the most part I did not drink in January and February (Maryland and my Brothers visit was an exception). Going downtown I decided to partake in the craziness but not drink because 1) it is WAY Cheaper 2) I do not have to worry about the queues for the beer and the loo. On the way to BART I saw people stumbling like the ground was melting.
As far as it being cheaper, I spent $20, instead of closer to $100. $5 on pizza, $5 on spring rolls, $5 cover to Irish bank and a $5 donation to Frank Chu. I remember when I did the math of going out for drinks on a regular basis.
Again I have no issue with drinking for the most part, but I am not going to spend $10 on Bud Light, maybe a Chimay. They should do an economic study on my choices.
Felt good this morning so I think I made a wise choice.

Songs that make me think of my Mom

So I was thinking about songs that make me think of my Mom.
When you read this list you will think, I had no idea Marcus's mom was involved in Kung Fu fighting which to my knowledge she was not..

The first two pop songs I remember was Billy Don't be a hero and Kung Fu Fighting listening in the Rambler Station wagon driving to Zayres

The next are three Beatle Songs over the years starting with Hey Jude to Let It Be

Also Pink Floyd's Hey You. At this point I was driving and this song came on. She said, this sounds like something that I would write, which is a generous assessment of my talent..

The dangerous path on infused pineapples

Here is a perfect example that the Government is run by someone who just says random things, or they have far too much time on their hands.
It seems that the alchohol board has been issuing warnings not to places with broken bathrooms, being a danger to society or even putting bits of pineapple on pizza (which is popular among the insane...)
No, they are targeting places with large jars of vodka with pineapple soaking in it.

So if you are thinking, the government is best at solving problems remember they are busy ensuring bars do not soak pineapples in vodka.
I could imagine the meeting when they are discussing what to target, maybe bars that attract a violent element? allowing underaged to drink? No, the problem we are solving on the taxpayers dime is this nonsense.

Roadside assistance and finding a CD

Before I buy any more Groupons I need to clear out some inventory. Yesterday I went to the Epicenter Cafe to use my $20 voucher.
Saw that Maryland had beaten Duke so I had various randoms make prank calls to the one person on my phone that did not want phone calls at that moment.

Saw someone walking around wearing miller lite pajama pants. I have always thought wearing prominent logos or shirts for let say Miller Lite unless you were working giving out cheap bottle openers (WHY DO THEY GIVE OUT CHEAP BOTTLE OPENERS THAT BREAK??) was odd. No let me know when you the Simpsons print Snuggie.

After a few more stops, (21st Amendment, Nova, Elixer). It was a good night between the Urban Diversion Happy Hour and then the preseason kickball fundraiser thing.

I made it back to the BART station to discover that someone had left the lights on in the Marcusmobile. I am sure someone picked the lock on the key and just turned my light on so that it would be dead when I got to the car. I am sure it was very involved with many parties participating on leaving my light on. Luckily I had road side assistance so I could have someone resolve the lack of battery power. I am glad I did not have to get a jump from some movie goers.

Today on the way out of Clown Colony, I saw a CD, which simply said Mix CD. I imagined putting it and being treated to great songs like "Midnight Train to Georgia" leading into "The Long and Winding Road" to the Vapors but no, it was awful. A couple of the songs sounded familiar but then it turned out to be sampled leading into garbage. The music the kids listen to! Back in my day we taped songs off the radio!

Comedy show was good...
