Looking Back after hearing sad news

Was thinking back to my last conversation with Melinda. If it came from a scene from a movie one may shout about it being predictable.
She had gone to Thailand to work at a Monastery as part of her sabbatical.
On one of her last days one of the older monks died. No one was quite sure about the cause of death but they said something about drinking a Coca Cola in front of an air conditioner.
This was rather upsetting to her and one of the other Westerners but she observed that the other Monks had a much different reaction to the older Monk's passing.
We then discussed the differences between the Eastern and Western view of death and how we will all live for a finite amount of time and none of us know how much time we have.

Remembered how she spearheaded much of the efforts when Albert was ill. We discussed how beautiful the service for Albert was as he felt that he (Albert) did not leave anything undone.

Looking at all that Melinda was able to do she packed more in that most people did who live two and a half times longer.

In shock and very sad.
