Another Baby Powder Story....

I know my readers love hearing stories about baby powder. I keep two different types of baby powder in my car. One is standard, the other medicated.
After running around the lake, I dumped a bunch on my sweaty back. You should not do this. Do not do this. Learn from my mistakes.
If you are really sweaty, do not dump a bunch of baby powder on yourself.
(It cakes up on your back....)

Luckily I was able to shower before seeing "Burn After Reading". Good Movie.

I am glad I had the whole incident happened with the baby powder because I am not sure what I would go on about.

Fred Containers

One of my cross country teammates said to me "the hardest part of running is putting on your shoes (fred containers)".
Today I learned that was true.

First off when walking to the gym I noticed quite a bit of trash on the fence near Celia's and Moonstar. Turns out whoever the property owner is, is in violation of

8.32.070 Property owners to maintain premises free of garbage.

Every owner, owner's employees, occupants or lessees of a house, building or commercial business shall, at all times, maintain the premises free of garbage and shall provide containers for the deposit of garbage caused by or induced by any operation from said premises, whether packing or unpacking, loading or unloading, or in work areas or by any other operation performed on the premises. (Ord. 865 § 3, 1978: prior code § 14-8)
http://www.ci.daly-city.ca.us/municode/html_ver/_DATA/TITLE08/Chapter_8_32__LITTER/8_32_070_Property_owners_to_ma.html

I was going to run after work. Drove to the sports basement but discovered I had no fred containers. On some level that was good as I was sore from yesterday.

The Mystery Deepens

So I ended up getting another mystery donation from the person that has a standard poodle. Perhaps Noel appeared to the other standard poodle via telepathy and got her to donate to my cause.
I am very thankful whoever you are, mystery standard poodle reader....

Pie Charts + Runs + Green Lantern + Alien Heads + Chris Weber move...

I will not suggest last nights race preparation (vitamin water and a potato based beverage)
Was debating actually skipping it but I am glad I went. Ran a sustainable pace for the five mile race.

Thought of pie charts as I added to one earlier in the morning.

As it was superhero day in kickball I got myself a green lantern hoodie and a comic book.
The Green Lantern Corp reminded me of the Jedi

I ended up being an umpire for a game as I arrived early. Not a big fan of that because everyone argues with you.

We tied our game against SAAS. I screwed up by not tagging up properly.
My alien head was returned.

Jerk Soup

On Saturday morning I must have eaten jerk soup as I was finding everything irritating.
First off they were a bunch of tacky signs on Hickey Blvd  for some tacky going out of business sale for a tacky jewelry store. I wondered why this was allowed and noted to complain to the city.
Then I went into Bank of America to complain about some fees. It was taking a really long to talk to one of their personal bankers. Started talking loudly to the other customers how this was unacceptable and how Bank of America was supposed to call me back. (I will admit that I was putting on a show)
Then when I was at 24 Hour Fitness I was complaining about the people not using towels. Why is this even an issue?

I saw that I was doing this.

Had a fun conversation with Nia's Mom about Sasha and why she was not going to the beach.

Did urban gold with Urban Diversion. The weather was nice.

Went to the Richmond to pick up Nia and her mom. Beagles are good dogs. Had fun at the bonfire.

A mystery reader with standard poodles, a run around the lake, the debates (with what I would have wanted to see both candidates say) and a block party

First off many of my readers know like NPR, I am trying to raise money I am raising money (The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society)
to donate go to
Anyway I got a mystery donation from someone who left this mysterious comment.
"I am a total stranger, but I read your blog because it often makes me laugh and I like to see pictures of dogs. Your dedication is admirable, good luck to you. I own the greatest standard poodle in the entire world!"
Anonymous

So that means either 1) they have the CRAZY idea they have the best standard poodle ever OR Noel faked her death and spent the last twenty years with different families. Noel was the one who found my blog and encouraged her current people to read and to donate. (still need $640)

Ran around the lake which was overcast but had perfect running weather.

Watched the debates in North Beach and to be honest thought both candidates did well.
(Compared to the Sarah Palin/Katie Couric interview where she comes across unprepared improv performer)
Both candidates talked about "energy independence" but would have like to have seen someone mention using the crazy idea of using less energy.
(One of them mentioned that the United States uses 25% of the worlds energy. The math from the top of my head states that the US makes up 4% of the worlds population)

Went to the Oktoberfest on Battery.

Oracle World + Blog Thing + Team in Training

A few years ago I was all about getting into all sorts of events such as launch parties. For the most part I cannot be bothered.
I was at the Oracle conference looking for sales people. Those are fantastic events to find marketing and developers but not so much on sales.

I went to the end event. Some of the queues for food were long while others were none at all. They were serving budweiser. You would not find Willie Mayes.

Then I walked to the 24 Hour Fitness for a spot of lifting. Saw some players from another kickball team. I made sure they knew that parking would suck on Sunday. I may dress up as a super hero or maybe a Mexican Wrestler/Superhero that will be invented because of me.

The funniest thing I did today was outside of Washington Mutual when a reporter asked if I was a customer. I told them that I was and started going about not worrying about the state of the economy. I then name dropped various economist such as Salvatore Governale, Richard Christy and JD Harmeyer. I believe that bad news sells more papers than good news. Think back to the last time W was doing the Danger Will Robinson dance, what happened? This is not like buying knock off cologne out of a box in Forestville Mall. The news report should be on http://www.nbc11.com

Went to a Blog networking event. As the writer of the greatest blog I do not have much touch with the rest of the blog sphere. The other blogs that I would read have lost steam. All of the other blogs were about something like for example, a building or a bus line or being a Mom or films or getting a character from a science fiction television show elected president. My blog is well about nothing in particular. Just the random things that happen in my life like seeing a dog or a kickball score or how to be smooth and debonair.
I am thinking of filming a cooking show in my kitchen.

Then I made way to around the Civic center to the team in training event. I got a sweat shirt from team in training. If you have not donated, you have less then a week

The end of the Wednesday Kickball till next season

This was the best season our Wednesday team had. We finished the season with six wins and two losses. This was going to be my last season but decided to play next year as well.
Its more about being in the park on a Wednesday or Sunday afternoon.
We lost our game 3 to 0 but we played well. I played one inning of first base and luckily had no collisions.

On the news, there is a general sense of anxiety and fear mixed with total rubbish and nonsense. Worries about the financial meltdown and the election mixed in with silly stories about celebrities and sports.  I believe you can easily, easily be overly informed and it has a negative effect on you. People have a lot of knowledge with very little action.

Last weekend, I saw the LP for Tumblewood Connection by Elton John who before 1980, had some really good music. So I used my credit at Amoeba to get Tumblewood Connection, Honky Chateau and Rock of the Westies. Amazingly on my iTunes library I had very little Elton John. I do think the William Shatner version of Rocket Man was the best. (Look it up on You Tube)
Another good band is the Faces. I guess I am going through a 1970's phase.

For the next week, I am going to try to make it a point to focus my attention away from the buyout, lurking financial doom etc. Bad news always sells more papers which's gets more people seeing the advertisements. That is the whole thing behind sports. The NFL's main goal is to sell beer and pickup trucks. Soap Operas were set up to sell soap.

Two Poodle

I recently started going back to the gym in addition to running. One thing I need to do is release the fact that for whatever reason the residents of Daly City do not understand the towel rule and I have to let it go.
I am not to the point of enjoying/looking forward physical zen like running. The worst bit about running is the first song as my legs go from sedentary stone poles to the point where it is all good.
Then when I am done, I have a clear head. I like to think of it on some level as medicine or at least preventative medicine.

I saw a standard poodle in my complex. The dog is welcome to hang out with Sasha during the day. Hopefully Sasha will not act the fool. On her list of things she likes, dogs are not listed.

Made my way into the city for the One Brick Happy Hour and I saw another Standard so it is going to be a good day!

Found a very cool coffee shop with outdoor seating and some magazines. May do some work there on a light phone day.

Recipe: heirloom tomato chili recipe

So instead of regaling you with what I did today (ran around the lake, I need to slow down my pace blah blah blah) I am going to give you a recipe.

Heirloom Tomato Chili
I took a few Heirloom tomatoes that were nearing the end of its shelf life and cut them into pieces.
Cut up a large onion

Put the items in a pot on low heat and added various spices and hot sauce.

Defrosted a pound of hamburger meat and placed it in the pot.
Added more spices (you need to let go and improvise)

Then added pinto beans, more hot sauce and some peanut butter and a little Nutella.

Let cook on low heat till done.

Now I have taught you how to cook.

Headphones and "Fountain of Sorrow"

The bane of my technical life has been headphones but hopefully I have resolved the issues with the ones I got from the Apple Store.
Ran a few miles in the park and I think I could be served well by slowing down.

I just changed my status to आपके सभी आधार कॉस्मो करने के लिए संबद्ध हैं

Kickball mixed up the teams and it was a fun day in the park.

I just downloaded "Fountain of Sorrow". I heard the song on the way back from Albert's service on Sirius. I have the ability to rationalize anything but anyway you cut it, it's sad. A life that was short, but full.

Farewell to Albert and I saw a coyote...

As I did not want to be late for Albert's memorial service I decided to run in the East Bay, mostly around the Berkeley Marina.
When I was running towards Emeryville, I saw his building in the distance and the song "Philadelphia" from Bruce Springsteen came on. It turns out that he was a Bruce fan (he passed away from Cancer)

I am so glad I went to the service that was so well done. His younger brother told the story about how after he got his diagnosis and moved back for treatment in Virginia, his brother asked Albert, if there was anything he wanted to do in his life now that he was near the end. Albert responded that he could not think of anything because if there was something he wanted to do, he simply did it. What a simple, profound statement and a great way to live your life.

Saw a number of people from various phases of Albert's life.

On a completely different subject I went to a fundraiser party for Team in Training in the Presidio. It is VERY spooky and dark at night. On the way back to my car, when I was thinking of spookiness, I saw for the first time in my life a coyote. Luckily the coyote knew what was up and went the other direction.

Las Vegas Half

First off I added a race in December. Probably chose it because it begins and ends in the Mandalay Bay Hotel which is where much of the song, "Me and My Monkey" takes place.

I went to another Team In Training fund raiser at the Sports Basement. Tomorrow I have a ten mile run. Will not be blazing speed at all.
I am starting to hit the gym and lift again. Not the funnest activity or maybe I am not at the point of passing the "this sucks" and into this is good.
At the gas station I ran into one of the coaches at Stanford. He was eating one of those apple pies. He mentioned he played for Nebraska and that Lawrence Phillips is serving 25 to Life.

Just downloaded the new Kanye West song from iTunes. There is more to rap than Eli Porter.

Started a Facebook group for Oxon Hill Tech Students from the mid 1980's to mid 1990's.

Marcus done split his pants...

A friend of mine who I recently reconnected with has gotten me to listen to the Velvet Underground. The odd thing is she is not much of a fan.

Early this morning I was walking and I see this car pull off with some papers on the ranch opposite of fred (roof). I pick up most of them up and saw that it was BOOF equipment (stuff for students). I considered figuring out what school it was and giving it to the office. My motivation would be to meet teachers because I know quite a few attractive teachers. Then I simply gave it to the gate guard and he gave me a banana. Much like the monkey astronauts. I went looking for other stuff to get more bananas!

Was able to get another free burrito bowl from Chipotle in Daly City. I will happily allow them to make lunch every day for free and I will give them a shout out!

I decided to go for a long slower run in Golden Gate Park but my headphones were having issues so I ran faster and less distance. I need to get this resolved.

Once I was done running, I put on my cleats and then my longer shorts. The cleats get stuck and I end up ripping the shorts in the middle of golden gate park. Wish I could find a banana suit. (I saw a man in a banana suit from the race I did not run)

Many of our team were not present but we pulled out a nail biter. Great game, won with a walk off kick in the bottom of the last inning.

BART Chump

On the way out of the South San Francisco station I was approached by someone asking for change. This normally does not happen in South San Francisco so I asked him why did he needed change. He said that needed to get to Balboa Park to get to college.
I said, I will buy your ticket.
Normally at this point they pass but he called my bluff. I only had a $10 and the most the Mac Hine would give you back is $4.95. So I gave the student a $5.05 card. I thought he would then run off to catch the train. Nope, he say down on the bench. Someone was taken as a chump.

The ride on BART was also eventful. Had to wait on the Daly City platform. Saw a couple of young women spitting as they were talking. When did that become acceptable?

A free lunch

I somehow got a free coupon for a free burrito at the new Chipolte in Daly City. So I drove over at lunchtime and passed a funeral that was well attended.

I am still debating doing running the San Jose Half Marathon OR the Bridge to Bridge. I am annoyed they mailed me something without my damn number. I could save a trip by paying an additional $30. Not a huge amount of money but it is kind of a nickel and dime thing.

Went to Pam's class at the YMCA. Feeling kind of scatterbrain today.

No race, haircut, alien head (yes) kickball

First off the first challenge of the day, I have no one to blame but the writer of these words OR me.
Woke up early for the Banana Man chase, but in 2008 I would be chasing zero Bananas.

I never registered. So I ran my own top secret 5 K around the park.

Had time to kill so I watched a bit of the Redskin game. Watching football got boring so I went for a haircut where I spoke Chinese. I was saying things that I thought were Chinese like "Bong Soo!" and she acted like it was proper.

Went to a garage sale where I got an alien head. It was the same one that Sarah Palin and I found when we were on the moon during the secret space shuttle mission to the moon. During that mission she kept on playing, "Bette Davis Eyes" and singing really loud.

Took the space alien head to the kickball and we won our game.

Afterwards we went to the Blackthorne and the space alien head went back to the moon or it was stolen, perhaps by Sarah Palin.

Calling off the search party

I am sure everyone on the party was concerned about my safety and whereabouts but you can all rest easy that I made it back OK even though walking through the Financial District at night is a bit dull.
I have no one, no one to blame for losing the bus and the 30 people but me. It starts and ends with me. I could have called to find out where everyone went but I left my cell phone at home.

It was a shortened night but still fun.

The first place we went to was having a freestyle rap battle but sadly the genius of Eli Porter, was no where to be found. To experience genius, go to You Tube and search for "Eli Porter".

The second place we were in the VIP room. At first it was only me and I thought I must have been VERY important but then the rest of the crowd found it.

Sort of helped Stephanie and Pam get cabs but then the bus left.

Uniform and a haircut

I set out to do three things, get a school uniform for a theme party, get a haircut and have a spot of curry with Urban Diversion. I only did one of the three. Was not able to procure a school uniform nor do teachers have a uniform.
Then I made my way to the lower Haight and they do not have any haircut places in my price range (my brain would short circuit at any hair style joints) so that was not crossed off.
I did have an Indian dinner with Urban Diversion after hanging around the lower Haight for the first time in a while.

Green Eggs and Ham

My friend John is like the guy in the books green eggs and ham about Sarah Palin.
I doubt he will send me anything that will make me like her, which is fine because I doubt I was the demographic the GOP was trying to "energize" when they picked her.
The simple fact that Intelligent Design/Evolution is even open for debate is silly. We have moved forward. End of discussion.
Now if she supported the flying spaghetti monster, then I would be sporting a Palin sticker on the Marcusmobile.

On far more important matters, I ran in Golden Gate Park and when I run three days in a row I have runs like I did today where 2 miles seems harder than 5 or 7.

I have done a cost benefit analysis and decided against running the San Jose Half Marathon on October 5th.
First off I have to either make a separate trip to San Jose or pay $30.
With gas at $3.91 a gallon I am paying $.13 to drive one mile. So San Jose is 47.5 miles from Daly City so driving there costs $12.38. Plus take into account having to rise from my chambers early and such.
I also do not want to be shot for the Nike Women's (half).
With all of that, I will probably be running the Bridge to Bridge.

We won our kickball game 2 to 0. I did not feel like going to Kezar because honestly that place is WAY too crowded. I like Sunday at the Blackthorne.

Sarah Palin Fellow Shuttle Astronaut

When I saw the news that John McCain had picked Alaska Governor to be his running mate, I thought she looked familiar.
Then I remembered back in 1994 when I went up on the Space Shuttle Atlantis when NASA was short on astronauts, she was one of the crew members!
This makes her the first person on the ticket of a major political ticket that has been to space.

The training to go into space was cut short. They had two pilots, (we were not allowed to drive the shuttle), the two of us and a chimp (who was given more responsibility as he had been on more shuttle missions).  We ate a lot of space ice cream which is not very good.

5 miles and a book exchange

Yesterday I went to a communication class and the instructor recommend a book.
I pick up some recently read books and get ready for an exchange for store credit at Green Apple Books.

My first stop was at the Beach/Park Chalet because I did not want to pay service charges for my tickets to the Brews on the Bay. Turns out they did not accept credit cards so I had to walk over to the ATM Machine and get some cash money to pay for the tickets. I ended up taking some crayons because it made sense in the scheme of things and will come in play when the thing in Switzerland gets turned on.

Then exchanged the books for a used copy.

Drove to sports basement and used my $10 gift certificate I got from the TnT brunch. (got another pair of running shorts)

As I mentioned earlier, no volleyball because my team disappeared like the stars from, like Homer at the Bat.

Was going to do the buddy run. We ran from the warm up equipment to the bottom of the bridge. My favorite run. You see loads of dogs.
Before the run I saw I had an old edition so I went back to Green Apple to exchange for a newer version as I have to have the newest into.

I guess Tuesdays are free again..

So the volleyball season was kind of annoying. They delayed the start of the season by a week which led to me to go running which led to me spraining my ankle.
It was also related to the major league baseball all star game.

It turns out we will not be going to the playoffs : (
Will probably go running and then go to the films. I saw an invite for an open bar party downtown but honestly Its not something that is as much fun as it sounds in concept. Sort of like eating a funnel cake.

Ran around the 4 miles around the lake at a good pace with minimal stops.
I really needed to clean the junk out of my trunk. I need to get rid of a lot of garbage.

Costco and Kickball on a Sunday

I went to Costco on a Sunday, early because any other time would be annoying.
I did not watch any of the football but would have loved to have a hidden camera on Michael Vick as he watched Matt Ryan throw a touchdown in his first pass.
Afterwards we would then make him watch the documentary about his dogs.
A full day!

Anyway took the MUNI to kickball because the monicle and cigar crowd was going to Opera in the Park which would make parking annoying.

We won 5 to 0. I had a double. I have decided that I will play in 2009.

Good

Last night I had free tickets to the San Francisco Giants game, I won a free hat, a free beer, and overall I am glad I made it to the ballpark where I followed the game very closely but sadly these elves stole my scorecards so I will not be able to share it with you.
Ended up purchasing Confederacy of Dunces and Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy then used the personal address system.

Went to team in training and I did not have my iPod charged so I had to run alone with my thoughts. Let it go. It was a really pretty run from Ocean to Baker Beach, a little hot but my blister did OK. So the bandage things work.

I am glad I signed up for Team in Training. They are very supportive, asking me how Mom is doing. I expressed my thankfulness about the work they are doing.
Won a $10 gift certificate at Sports Authority for trivia. They should have foregone the game and just gave me the cave prize.

Ended up not using my $30 off a $100 purchase at Banana Republic as they did not have my size jeans on sale so I gave the coupon to someone else.

The Greatest Blog does politics but then goes on about his blister

So I am not that super excited about either political party. This is not a "political blog".
I do not expect either Presidential Candidate to stop over to play with Sasha and we get that connection that we are both on the same wave length.
My specific issue with Sarah Palin is her anti-science stance. She supports the teaching of intelligent design which has the same merits as alchemy and astrology. You can call what you want but its not science. Not having a focus on the scientific method is one of the main reasons that the United States falls behind other countries in Math and Science.
I think I am the only voter that uses such archaic justifications such as science as a reason not to vote for someone.

On a far more important matter, I have a blister on the heel of my foot from my new cleats. I was going to run but it was digging in so I ran in the pool. Drove to Longs and got a special blister band aid and some lucky pharmacist got to see it. Hopefully it will heal quickly.

Also went to the farmers market where I got stuff for the other patrons. Went at the end of the day.

Had dinner in South San Francisco.

We go to 4 and 1

I think the whole "releasing expectations" approach is good.
We won 2 to 1 with two outs in the bottom of the fifth as it was getting dark.

I was one for one. Could have been a double but I am slow at least in my mind.

Did not stay for flip cup because it was too crowded.
