Farewell to Albert and I saw a coyote...
As I did not want to be late for Albert's memorial service I decided to run in the East Bay, mostly around the Berkeley Marina.
When I was running towards Emeryville, I saw his building in the distance and the song "Philadelphia" from Bruce Springsteen came on. It turns out that he was a Bruce fan (he passed away from Cancer)
I am so glad I went to the service that was so well done. His younger brother told the story about how after he got his diagnosis and moved back for treatment in Virginia, his brother asked Albert, if there was anything he wanted to do in his life now that he was near the end. Albert responded that he could not think of anything because if there was something he wanted to do, he simply did it. What a simple, profound statement and a great way to live your life.
Saw a number of people from various phases of Albert's life.
On a completely different subject I went to a fundraiser party for Team in Training in the Presidio. It is VERY spooky and dark at night. On the way back to my car, when I was thinking of spookiness, I saw for the first time in my life a coyote. Luckily the coyote knew what was up and went the other direction.
