Organics Vs Industrial
So I have gotten a few questions about paying extra for Organic/CSA/free range/ocean caught salomon
Does it make a difference?
In my limited experience, the produce I get from the farmers market is far superior than what I had been getting from Safeway/Costco/Trader Joes and yes, even Whole Foods.
The best strawberries I have ever had came from road stand on the coast.
I do not think you are gaining much by buying south american organic blueberries.
It may also be more nutritious because the produce had to work harder to fend off natural pests. (this is a theory I heard)
Plus you are not getting exposure to chemicals. Pesticides were originally developed as chemical agents during world war II. Small long term exposure cannot be good.
I am someone that is very frugal. It is hard wired into my fiscal personality but it costs about the same for me to make a meal of organic produce topped off with free range chicken and olive oil than a frozen meal with a hosts of chemicals.
Here is a challenge, try to get your produce from alternatives to the supermarket for a week. I had no idea of all the different ways that are available.
