Dog

I have been having an internal debate for a number of years of getting a dog to hang out with and be my doggie friend.
I do not like saying owning a dog. I do not "own Sasha".

As I am in a situation where I can bring a well behaved dog to toiling, I should set the general criteria...
-has to be under twenty pounds (crown colony has a rule, and I do not want to pretend I am blind or depressed when I am talking to my neighbors)
-hypoallergenic (bringing the dog to toiling I want no issues) This dog does not have to be pure bred.
-Good temperment and NOT barky malarky
-full grown and house trained as I do not want to deal with that (plus there is less of a market for non-puppies and I can say that I "rescued" the dog in every conversation.)
-cat friendly (duhhhhhh)

I am also soliciting advice on how to introduce Sasha to Yoshimi (the dogs name that will give me cool credits)

Also considering fostering a dog that meet the criteria.

A character in a Nick Hornby book....

Lately I have been feeling like a character in an early Nick Hornby book (not the crap from the last few years)
think High Fidelity or About a Boy, maybe Fever Pitch. Maybe Tim from the British version of the Office.
(I do like the American version of the Office which I am shocked to say)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=auEceiMGGk4
Question. What type of bear is best?

Went to boot camp class. This session has far more women. My favorite was the second session with the droogs from my group.
We ran outside and I kept running the opposite direction.
Made me think of that potatoe sack race from 1973 when I simply pick the bag on my head and ran or when I insisted on going down the slide with one leg up

Back to the Nick Hornby thing, I need to get a new favorite living author as both Douglas Adams and Kurt Vonnegut are up in heaven.
Maybe someone with a good sense of geomotry and theology.

Before boot camp class, I ran 2.56 miles. We ran some more during the class but my iPod locked up and I will not get credit towards my goal (not planning on running tomorrow)
Going to the Giants Singles Night tomorrow to meet a bunch of women that are probably going to be from the East Bay. Not a fan of early season baseball. I do not like baseball when I am not concerned about getting a sunburn. People who get worked up about sports are daft. Taking BART to the game. Hopefully it will be free.

Socks.....

This morning I did my laundry (which is very not noteworthy) but when I went to pick it up one of my wonderful neighbors moved it into a pile so I missed out on the cleaning of the lint (i like doing this).
Was going to be grumpy but she had some sort of injury so I had to be nice or be a jerk.

When I was putting my clothes I noticed one of my socks was missing its pair.
Now you may think that I get cheap socks but that is in the category of things that I pay extra for (such as shaving cream)
I was going to find the other sock by going upstairs into the dryer and then writing a nasty gram on the dryer. Went to put on a jacket and the sock had stuck to it.

Speaking of missing pairs I can only find one cleated fred container so as I am playing kickball,

Popcorn

A large bag of popcorn was taken on the opposite of sub. Told everyone about my career as a movie person in Waldorf, Maryland where we would reuse the unsold popcorn.

For the second time in two nights, I was at a party that attracted the attention of the heat. I felt like Pac Man Jones running into the man.
We brought ALOT of popcorn to the party. If Emily looks back on her life, she will remember this phase as the one with the popcorn.

It was a fun party but the hit came down plus they kept changing the music.

Took Katie and Kelly on a death march as I misjudged the distance which is a common Marcus Mistake.

Bay to Breakers Public Goals

My Bay to Breaker results.
I have not run it since 2004

2001
RONALDI  MARCUS  DALY CITY  CA  34065  16409  1:54:25

2002
RONALDI  MARCUS  M  DALY CITY  CA  13351  19663  20323

2003
Ronaldi  Marcus  M  32  Daly City  CA  7437  10511  1:38:31

2004
Ronaldi  Marcus  Daly City  CA  4678  8557     1:30:35  USA

So my goal is 1:17

6.3 miles....

As I was behind my pace, I ran 6.3 miles. When I uploaded it all to the website, I am still .2 miles.

It has been a challenging week as I have been having issues with my Sirius Radio and I had to resort to the free radio. If Vincent Van Gough had to suffer what I had to suffer, I can see why he cut off his ear (this is a joke)

Went to Radio Shack and got a new unit. Was ready to buy the Stilleto but it turned out that it is not Mac Compatible so I am glad I am not on Howard Stern's Christmas list. Need to replace the fuse again. I will have to listen to the Wolf. Free radio is REALLY bad...

Yesterday I thought about Isaac Newton's pursuit of alchemy. Everyone has some not great ideas.

Radio

Today I learned that Arne Wilburg was a DJ at a pirate radio station in Oregon.

On the way into toiling my Sirius receiver would not turn on so I was forced to listen to the poor people radio and it sucked. I do not want to win prizes. I do not want your opinion on anything (except for the Stern show which is where I get all of my information). So with the receiver not powering I used my problem solving skills and fixed my issue. I tried my iPod charger and that did not work so I knew I had to change the fuse so I went to the auto part store and I was listening to the Spectrum in no time.

Ran 2.8 miles as I am behind the pace as I did not run on my journey. I did walk a lot but that does not count.

Went to see the screening of Maxed out about credit card debt. It stressed me out so I split and dined outside. Saw Gwen and she said that Keith thinks that I would turn a woman down for dropping an M&M, not the case. Littering, yes but who litters these days?

Criteria

I am a simple man with simple tastes.
From what I understand they are those that make a parlor game of "who would Marcus date" so for all of you women who read this blog here are my criteria

1) Geographically Desirable: this means from San Francisco to Sunnyvale (as I toil in Mountain View). Possible in Oakland or Berkeley but you have to be a Special Lady and a very exciting girl
http://lyricsplayground.com/alpha/songs/s/speciallady.shtml

2) Financial Responsible and Good Credit. I am not concerned about debt but you must be able to go to Target and get a credit card. Be a good patron of the library.

3) Not be allergic to cats

4) Like dogs. (bonus points if you have a dog. More bonus points if the dog is cool)

5) Find me funny and smart and wise. To set the proper expectation, I will probably not be able to fix many things in your house but would be able to give wise financial, travel or career advice.

On top of that I have to fancy you. This is more arbitrary.
Curly red hair +
Glasses +
AuPair/Nanny/Teacher/Librarian/Nurses +
Smells good. (lotions over perfume)
Relative good shape and into health/fitness (as this has become more important to me)

Negative points for
-cigarette smokers (bot not an elimination)
-bad taste in pop culture

So if you would like to present yourself send me an e-mail.

Idiots Anonymous

In 1987 my sister Andrea and I went to the Capital Center to see Eric Clapton and Robert Cray. I danced with this woman named Cecelia. After she left,  I noticed my wallet was gone and I thought she was a pick pocket.
Anyway I was grumpy and made my way to my sisters Ford Escort where I found my wallet.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6402649082268931037&q=cecelia+paul+simon&hl=en

Fast forward twenty years in the future and we are on our way to Fresh Fields. I go looking for my wallet and I cannot find it, I look in my pants, my fleece, SOME rooms, the car.

I then tell everyone the crisis and I call in order
1) Northwest Airlines reservations
2) Dulles Airport lost and found
3) National airport police where they tell me I could board the flight but need to go through secondary screening.

We drive to Fresh Fields and I am thinking of going to the DMV, cancelling credit cards, identity theft....

Andrea gives me the cash for the flight so I am flush until I get this resolved.

They drop me off a few houses away when I mentioned to Andrea that there were some rooms that were unchecked.

Andrea is the hero by finding my wallet. I would have not been grumpy if she skimmed something off the top. She  found it  in the recliner.  Maybe Cosmo hid it.

So I was not clever...

Jeff, Andrea and I strolled to downtown Deale where I was generous as I knew I would not have to deal with the DMV and such.

This was sad but why I think air shows must be eliminated.

Carter Williams/Safety Faire/Battery

Carter Williams from the Banana Group stopped off for dining at toiling and he wished he had brought a potato sack but he uses that for races.
Stopped off to see Raider and Brando who are block headed dogs. They are my favorite in Santa Clara county.

Rode a bicycle over to the safety faire and I almost had a crash but was too late for the information. I may have missed out on a shirt.

Ran enough to put me ahead of the pace. As I was done several people came up to tell me about buying a treadmill.

I need a charger for my camcorder. To answer your question, I do not know where the charger is. If I did, I would not go out and buy one. I went to circuit city and radio shack.
I am not a fan of going to the mall.

.9 behind....

My Sister and Mom are celebrating in the streets that Sanjaya is off American Idol. Me voting in that show is like those two voting on the end of the Empire Strikes Back (I think they might have come up with a better plot for Episode I)

On Gwen's blog she says that I would be grumpy if she went off and called her blog, "The Greatest Blog in the Entire World". That would be me starting a band, and calling it "The Greatest Rock and Roll Band". She should come up with another moniker.

I got a shout out on Allen Romero's blog
He is doing something to encourage homeless people to get help.

I am know only .9 miles behind my pace. I could run twice around the Crown Colony loop but I will make it up tomorrow.
We played Ultimate Frisbee which goes into the category of things I am not good in....  The next session I am only doing Monday nights.
Thursday is Volleyball (with Brian, Carly, Josh, Emily, Lauren, Chad et el)

When a woman says she is anti-diamond it scores a lot of points with me.

I did forget my workout trousers (I love the word trousers) but luckily I had an extra new pair in the trunk of my car. I think if I ever cleared out my car I would get 40 MPG but then again I would need a new house to store all of the stuff in my trunk.

On the pace....

As you know I had set a running goal of 110 miles in eight weeks. A week in, it became more interesting as I get ill (I must of on some level wanted attention) and I missed five days so I was a bit behind on the pace. Anyway I ran just over five miles this afternoon. So now I am only 1.1 miles behind my pace.
The next session of boot camp I will only be doing Monday so they said I had to pay cash (or check), I guess they did not want the gold equivalent cut into bars.
My mission was to go to the Wells Fargo ATM at the Safeway on Shoreline and then opposite of fred the money to the opposite of fred at the gym.

I ran into Robbi a couple of times so I told her I was stalking her. I would be a lousy stalker unless it was really convenient and I could get some other stuff done as well.

Here is a question (and please, please do not blurt out the answer like your own It's Elementary)
Do you know who Telly Savalas is?

If I was a dog....

The Greatest Blog talks about being an innocent bystander...

Right now my favorite song is Intervention by the Arcade Fire.

Returned to Boot camp after being ill last week. We ran around the building quite a bit. Missing running for five days have made the whole goal more interesting. I am going to run 110 miles in eight weeks.

Had a cave prize for Maria (as it was her last day) but Katie Alton had it as I was concerned about losing it. No one but myself to blame but your humble narrator. I should have opposite of freded her the cave prize at the BBC but wanted to hit on the Australian waitress and for some reason I thought would help my cause. I am speaking of the BBC in Menlo Park, sadly the BBC has not finally given me a chance to have my own well written British Situation Comedy that will be badly adapted for the American market where my role will be played Jimmy Kimmel.

Then he shook his head....
One of my favorite entertainers that is still active is Robbie Williams. (Not Robin Williams)

Speaking of Cave Prizes I purchased something that turned out to be a cave prize down the road so I am out $10.

Had some old and new readers making comments which I like such as Carly Jackson (who found some very cool shirts related to Delirium Tremens), and Tryst (who is a Corgi). I do not like it when people make comments on very old posts on things that have obviously expired like the free dog situation.

I have three versions of Something Stupid.

I am strongly considering deleting my MySpace account because they make it far too easier for bad stuff to come into your computer. They allow customization to people that have no business customizing anything. Between Facebook, Tribe, Zaadz etc the Social Networking needs are more than covered. My main motivation for having that was to find candidates and I have never found one.

Cause to turn the tide.

So it turns out I will be able to play Kickball as Waka has a Sunday league! I am really happy about this. I will be placed on some random team as my old team plays on Wednesday.
Between Volleyball on Thursday and Volleyball on Sunday I am a having/eating cake situation.

Signed up for a couple more races. Between getting the shirts and the iPod/Nike thing it helps my motivation to run.
Today was a perfect run. I was happy with my time and how I felt afterwards.
Loads of doggies and they were all jerk faces (if you are a new reader, jerk face = cute dog)

Spent the day in Mill Valley and where I toil spoils the experience of eating out. I love the cafes better than the whole interaction with the army of valets, bartenders and waiters.

I like the song Ring of Fire.

I know Gwen and Andrea will be made of wood, but last night I had a dream that some of my friends and I flew the Millennium Falcon to the Death Star (it was a mix of older friends with work Droogs). I snuck up on Vader when he was in that chamber and I cut his tube and then slashed him with his light saber. It was anti climatic but kind of cool.

So you wanna reach the masses with your tales...

OK so you want a worldwide audience for some crazy story of yours and you
want said tale told in your voice and sadly you are not a Don Imus with a
popular radio show that reaches hundreds of people all over the country
(this is a joke as he was sacked for making stupid comments and not being
funny)
Anyway leave me a message on my cell phone saying, I want to reach the
masses and I will post it on the website You Tube.

Menlo

After toiling, I went with my work droogs to the BBC in Menlo Park. You may think that the BBC has finally realized that the best way to reach the youth of England is to reach out to me to bring the sexy back (I guess there is some guy name Justin Timberland whose catch phrase makes everyone go nutty).
Sadly I will not be joining the giants of British Comedy at this point in making 12 brilliant episodes of English comedy that will aim slightly higher than the intelligence of the average TV house hold.
We were at the BBC in Menlo Park saying farewell to Maria and Happy Birthday to Kelly.

Some people were trying to sell the idea of going to Las Vegas in July.

Earlier in the day they were watching my Video Blogs...

Where is the cat, where is the cradle

My all time favorite author Kurt Vonnegut passed away.

Some of my favorite books written by him include
1) Breakfast of Champions
2) Sirens of Titan
3) Cat's Cradle.

If you have never read any of his books, go to the library and read the ones listed.

Tuesday

I am trying to write something but I am suffering, from writers block.
I did not have any dreams that I remembered nor any relevant thoughts about Star Wars.

No witty thought on todays news stories (Maybe Al Sharpton and Imus should make a movie together like Silver Streak)
I did go for a run as I am fully recovered from my cold/flu.

Gave advice on where to hold an offsite. Sometimes it feels like it is 1988.
Maybe 1970

Grindhouse

As many of you know this weekend saw the release of Grindhouse which was a double feature with trailers for four fake movies.
I could watch trailers all day.

Anyway the first one is a fast paced Zombie movie.
The second one took a while to get going and I was not sure where it was going and part of me wanted to split but someone I know who LOVED the Nicolas Cage version of the Wicker Man really liked both movies. I am glad I stayed for the entire thing...

Am feeling better. Rest will do that.

Fred Container

This is perfect weather to be sick in. I am in the process of recovering from being ill (which is rare) but at least the weather cooperated.
If it was bright and sunny and the weekend of the Union Street Festival, I would be made of wood.

Got my fred containers organized by going to Target. I really need to get a high quality fred container rack. One that is made of wood. (The one that I got from Target is made of wood in that it is boots)

I doubt I would like to drive on this road.

Stopped off at the Daly City Farmers Market to buy strawberries. When I spoke to my Mom she was concerned that I had no food in my compound and that I was wasting away.

After going around the mall I decided to have a bite to eat at Rubio's which is one of those quasi fast food places that are more high end than Taco Bell. Anyway I must either be worldly and or really stupid. I asked the opposite of fred what type of beverages. As I normally do not drink sodas and I am not drinking beer today, I asked if they had Horchata. I must be used to authentic Mexican food served in the Mission but she had no idea what I was on about so I requested an empty plastic cup for malinkey. Then she gave me the number 13. I said that was unusual but she never heard of the fact that 13 was unlucky. She is probably a student of physics. I ordered a shrimp bowl with no rice and I got a burrito (but with no rice).

Free Day

Gwen had a god awful idea. She wanted to go to Great America at 6:00 AM tomorrow because it is free.

Now if you know me, I can be described as cheap or frugal but I always avoid "free day" of anything.
For example it is worth it to me to pay $5 to get into the zoo then go on free day when any scofflaw or mad man may be wandering (I will use a coupon but another story)

On another note, I hate amusement parks. I must give Big Tom credit for going on those awful rides. The queues are long and the food is both expensive and terrible.

Anyway Gwen asked if I wanted to go to Santa Clara at 6 AM to get in for free.

Monday Monday

I was a bit tired today

On another note, I am for the first time listening to Odyssey &Oracle as it arrived in the mail. It was not available on either eMusic or iTunes. From what I am told, they recorded this down the hall from the Beatles Abby Road and used many of the same techniques. It is also described as a British Pet Sounds.

Back to my day, I was tired. Not sure why. Must have been the drama with the key and such or climbing too the top of the Bank of America building.

One day a trade is announced and jerseys are printed and then the next day Briggs is still a Bear and the Redskins are still picking sixth but yet they interview DeMarcus.

Ran 2 miles before boot camp. I am right now at 4.6 miles towards my new goal of 110 miles in eight weeks. Boot camp itself was tough but it keeps me off the street and away from gangs. I did like the last session but not every album is Rumors. I am debating playing on the Urban Diversion Volleyball team at the end of the month. I was a better volleyballer than a footballer.

The Zombies album is pretty good and will get more than one listen. This is a purchase that did not make me sad.

Quote from Albert Einstein.

There are moments when one feels free from one's own identification with human limitations and inadequacies. At such moments one imagines that one stands on some spot of a small planet, gazing in amazement at the cold yet profoundly moving beauty of the eternal, the unfathomable; life and death flow into one, and there is neither evolution nor destiny; only Being. - Albert Einstein ...

Gentleman Ranch Opposite of Fred....

I know I would be terrible at something like this but I would like to introduce myself as a "Gentleman Farmer" or would be even better if I was described "he is a gentleman ranch opposite of fred"

A song that I heard for the first time is Intervention by Arcade Fire. Good song discovered by me.
