New Orleans or the Bywater is the Portlandia of the Bayou
Just got back from my trip to New Orleans.
The conference was in the French Quarter.
But I decided to stay in a more authentic neighborhood so I rented a house.
The house was in a neighborhood called the Bywater. And the house was what was called a shotgun shack luckily they were more Star Wars figures than shotguns as far as I can tell. I arrived on Tuesday night on fat Tuesday. Amazingly that Tuesday is not a great time to be in New Orleans because a everyone is drunk and stupid and b many places are closed.
I made a joke that if they wanted to film a southern version of poor land via the Bywater would be a fantastic place to film. My ride to the airport today, informed me that quite a few people moved from Portland to the Bywater and she is in the process of studying hipster/food truck culture.
