Short term excitement.

Knock at the door. My upstairs neighbor and kid was with a small found dog.
Called other neighbor. She called back and told me she found the owner.

Old timer dog was reunited with person and all ended well. Ended giving kid a print off my wall of flooded escalators.
Alls well that ends well.

On the phone for public opinion research

They are asking me about driving and how much I use public transit.
Today was a bit different.

Foam Roll and Star Wars in the fog

A big portion of everyone's reality is the weather. It is often a factor that has a Goldilocks and the three bears quality (this is the story of the woman who broke into houses to eat breakfast and sleep in houses)

This Summer has been really overcast and foggy but I would happily take that over the heat any day.

Lately I have been taking a foam rolling class. Someone mentioned that they knew someone who got a job at Lucas Arts that named their kids after Star Wars characters. I expected to hear Han, Luke, Leia, Chewbacca but no they named them Annakin, Padme and some other nonsense character. It turns out that the new generation is more into the prequels which is why I am glad that the Beatles never re-united. (I would expect it to be underwhelming like the return of Joe Gibbs or the Star Wars prequels). But then I thought, if I was born in 1950 I would not be a Star Wars fan. So I may be unfairly judging the prequels. On the other hand I do dig the Pixar movies and still like the original trilogy.

The end of cursive

I am really happy that cursive is no more, no more.
When I was in short pants in the 1970's I thought, this is a really stupid pointless skill.

I remember how the teachers would give me different shaped types of pencils.

Camping trip

For pictures from this weekend go to

Went with Urban Diversion to Placerville for a camping trip. Its been a long time since I have actually seen more than a few stars with all of the light pollution.
The drive up was a hassle as everyone decided to drive up at the same time. We need to implement rolling weekends and scattered starts to reduce traffic and the need for additional roads.
The highlights of the drive up was a stop at Chick Fil A in Fairfield which is the closest to San Francisco. They do what they do correctly and they treat their employees well including not making them lose their job if they cannot make it due to a hurricane.
The second highlight of the drive up came when we went to a Ralleys supermarket. They had all of their single beer bottles in a single cart so I bought the whole lot.

The campsite had a Standard Poodle named Jackson which was a good sign.

Later in the evening we all went to a meadow to look at some shooting stars. Some people were complaining about the lack of shooting stars but the stars themselves (with all of their possible extrasolar planets and those looking back at us) was worth the drive up.

One disappointment is that the Smirnoff Ices were drank voluntarily and for the most part was not able to ice people.

We ended up going to this bar which was the setting of the movie Road house or the cantina from Star Wars. Kept on expecting a fight to break out between Greedo and Patrick Swayze.

Will be going on another camping trip to Napa in a couple of weeks. One of the big advantages of having a cat is you just put food down and not have a parade of clowns going through your house.

Clean Apartment and Foam Role.

Happy that I got my apartment cleaned.
I can clean but to get it really cleaned needs someone else.

Went to the JCC and I was the only one in the foam rolling class. The instructors are top notch and Tara led me through a good session.
Doing quite a bit of restorative focus.

Met up with part of the pub quiz team for a wine event at Fort Mason.

American idol

I never watched more than

Dogs...

While walking in the city I stopped a dog on his walk with their people. It was one of those mixes, smaller dog. I asked about the dogs age and they said 13. I said that the dog was spry. I wonder if dogs hate hearing that as they think of their canine legacy and how their people would either lose it or move on and get another dog. Do they look back in regret on an eggplant in the trash not eaten on a christmas morning or wish they did not spend so much time barking for no reason?
Also saw a swiss mountain dog.

My review of Waterworld

It was my first trip to Waterworld
A friend of mine organized a large group of us to go to Waterworld.

We had a fun day and I am glad we were in the set aside area (+) The music was odd but I liked it (lots of 1980's Bruce Springsteen etc) rather than awful modern stuff. The weather was great as they have something in the sky called "The Sun". Being in Daly City and San Francisco I am not aware..

The negatives is the place is very inefficient. You had to pay $10 for parking but did not accept credit cards so I had to leave my ID to go to the ATM and then go back to give the $10 and then to my car. (-)
(Bring cash, yes, I should have stopped at the ATM)

Then I waited in a long slow line and they only had one ticket register open. I had a special discount code but they were not aware and had to go find someone. (-) They had other lines open just for season ticket holders. (you need to have more cashiers open or machines to buy tickets...)

Went to go to the VIP area (Big +) but I was told I needed a wristband so I went back to the ticket area and the council of wisdom was not aware but finally someone figured it out. (-) No one seemed to know what was going on as I had to go back to get wrist bands for two other friends. The supervisor asked me, who did you speak to, sadly I did not remember as I do not have a photographic memory.

Then you needed to pay $10 and wait on yet another line to get a raft. Once again, another line with one register. If you are going to charge me make it quick. It is actually $7 but you get a $3 deposit back (with another line)

The only ride I went on was the lazy river as I am not much of a ride person

If you have a friend that is some sort of logistics expert and you want their head to explode, bring them to Waterworld where it is comically inefficient.

Charge a couple bucks more for tickets and then get rid of the nonsense of renting rafts. Accept credit cards for parking. A better informed staff would reduce annoying me which is the goal of most places...

Again, a fun day...
