Cigarette Butts

Why do smokers feel that it is acceptable to flick their cigarette butt onto the street? Everyday I see smokers toss the butts from their car onto the street. I also see smoking pedestrians litter the sidewalk with their remnants of their nasty habit. At best they are a non-biodegradable blight onto our state. At worst they are a potential start to a fire.

I am not only going to complain about the bad habits of smokers but I am going to offer a solution. Create a statewide $.10 deposit on each cigarette butt much like the current CRV program. I doubt smokers would be so careless and even if they were I doubt they would stay on the street for long.
