Campbell Evening

After toiling I went to Campbell, CA for a run along the Los Gatos trail (4 miles at 10:14 pace)
Had way too much crap in my pockets...
Used to bike that trail in the 1990's. Saw various dogs and we said hello.

Met up with Gwen and her droogs from Google at the pub quiz but I had a long ride home and we were in a booth with people far smarter than me.

Cigarette Butts

Why do smokers feel that it is acceptable to flick their cigarette butt onto the street? Everyday I see smokers toss the butts from their car onto the street. I also see smoking pedestrians litter the sidewalk with their remnants of their nasty habit. At best they are a non-biodegradable blight onto our state. At worst they are a potential start to a fire.

I am not only going to complain about the bad habits of smokers but I am going to offer a solution. Create a statewide $.10 deposit on each cigarette butt much like the current CRV program. I doubt smokers would be so careless and even if they were I doubt they would stay on the street for long.

Britney Spears the early years

I was at the Elephant and Castle and I heard an early Britney Spears song.
Watching her know is like watching Ali against Holmes or Leonard against Norris.
I doubt she will be around like LuLu or Bonnie Tyler in 2020. (I am not thinking she will meet her maker but I doubt she will be on Europop)
Listening to her song was like listening to the victory of production over talent.

An explanation for my lack of interest in watching the football....

I think much of the stress in the world can be traced to not budgeting enough time for things to go screwy.
For some silly reason I scheduled a conference call at 8 AM the day I was moving offices. Normally I reserve bad choices in the area of travel (6:00 AM flight out of San Jose?)
So I get into toiling and I cannot find 1) my headset 2) my dock station 3) my keyboard and I cannot get the Internet to work. So I duck into a conference room and luckily get it to work so I was able to have the web conference without an issue.

All of my stuff was in some other cube. There is a strong chance that my hand writing had something to do with the diversion.

We went to Birks for a going away lunch. We talked about sports and I think my disinterest in watching sports comes from living away from the DC area. If the weather was crummy and I had one of my droogs having chicken wings and a large television set maybe I would don a Heath Shuler Jersey and watch the game. If I lived in Green Bay I would watch the games on Television and I would end up losing an opposite of fred that would be transplanted to someone whose opposite of fred got bitten off by a Lion in India.

After toiling I went to the Sawyer Camp trail and I ran 5 miles at a 10:00 minute mile pace. I have a seven mile race on Sunday. The last time I have run so much it was 1988 and I had a 10 year old red car. I was running at a faster pace. I think of George Foreman coming back in 1988 at the unheard age of 38. Maybe I should give George a call.

Small Things that make me happy and a SHOCK! Big Tom pays RETAIL!!!!!

I was reading an article about how miserable this guy's life was after he won the lottery.
Often it is the small things that lead to happiness. One thing that makes me happy is by passing backed up traffic due to my knowledge of the back roads.
For example at 280 and 380 it often backs up, but I get off at San Bruno Avenue and get far ahead of loads of traffic, often knuckleheads that drive all aggressive.

On 19th Avenue I will often be passed and then I catch up at the light.

Ran five miles at the Sawyer Camp trail. It clears my head.

On another note, I may set my status on GMail or on Facebook on something that is utter nonesense. I am not going to University or becoming an astronaut.

Finally Andrea called to inform that 1) the compound somehow ran out of ice cream 2) BIG Tom paid retail at 7-11.

I may apply to be an astronaut.
I would be horrible as I would get motion sickness and claustrophobic but to be an astronaut.

Imagined wearing my orange astronaut jump suit all the time. I would get to train in the anti gravity room.
It would be funny if there was some test that applicants had to take and somehow, I scored well.

September 1988

First things first, it has been about 19 years since one of the most memorable months of my life which was September of 1988.
Not only did my Brother get married in New Carollton (second most fun wedding ever), and my Pinto was stolen during the day from Oxon Hill but also my Standard Poodle Noel left us.

As I was at cross country when it all went down, I never saw her and part of me thinks she told my parents that she had other places to go and she on occasion checks in with me.
I wonder about where she came from. She had the same collar the whole time. Whenever I see a standard Poodle they know about Noel. Before Noel I did not like dogs. I would have been one of those horrible anti-dog people that are well anti-dog and are no good. I wonder if Noel had not shown up would there have been a Cosmo? a Sophie? a Stelly? a successful pet plate?

Thinking back on the wide variety of passengers the Red Ford Pinto had that month from my Dad, both of my Grandmothers,  Me, my knucklehead friends and the band of thieves. Luckily I solved the mystery.

The town of Sunnyvale is going through an akward stage

After toiling I went to Sunnyvale to meet the south bay version of Urban Diversion.
I went for my 200th run of the year to get me to 463 miles or the equivalent of running from 12100 Old Colony Drive to Salem, MA just in time for a witch hunt!

Purchased some shirts at Macys. The Mall was knocked down. I guess they need a new fangled building to put in an Old Navy and an Orange Julius and a Spencers.

Dined on Kabobs at the House of Kabobs. Often I would eat something in Sunnyvale and think, I could have had a Kabob. The owner asked me if I had ever dined on Kabobs and I told him how I was a world traveler and very urbane.

Andrea and I discussed how I do not like dining with a large group on a split bill and sitting on any seat but the end in the cinema.

Carter Williams, Gwen Majors and Alison Steward are lost between two shores

It turns out that both Carter Williams, Gwen Majors and Alison Steward are jumping into Pterodactyls and flying to the Big Apple or the Big Barbie.
I wonder how often a Pterodactyls and a T Rex fought and how cool would it have been to be a cave man to watch that!

Oddly both Carter and Alison had one of their farewalls at Jupiter. Cosmo would not like Berkeley as they are many homeless.

Carvel Whale Cake in Context

Due to some comments made by the readership last week it seems that it may be a good idea to put things in some sort of context and not write like the screenplay of a Harry Potter movie.

I wake up in the morning and I put on iTunes. One of the tracks is by the comedian Patton Oswald and he is going about Carvel Ice Cream's commercials from the 1970's and 1980's. It turns out we both grew up in the Washington DC area so I remembered Carvel commercials where the founder would do the voice overs.

So I wondered what ever happened to Carvel? Do they still exist? It turns out there is a store in Los Altos! As I was going to see Brando and Raider I stopped off at the store on the way back to pick up the whale ice cream cake.

399 Miles

Whenever I get a new tank of gas I reset the trip gauge to measure the
amount traveled on a single tank of gas. Somehow I was able to get 399
miles on a single tank of gas. Perhaps some elves are doing a goof on
me.
Hit the Marina and North Beach. Was happy that my eyes were almost
back to normal. You do not realize the wealth you have when everything
is in working order.

Met up with the droogs from Delirium Tremens for Laurens Birthday
party at Woody Zips.

Went to the Shore Clean Up. I saw a pinto that was souped up for the
21st century. I talked to the driver about the experience of driving a
Pinto. Outside of the Nissan Sentra, the red Ford Pinto I had was my
favorite. Most of the stuff I picked up was cigarette butts.

Went to the Marina to 1) watch Penn State beat Buffalo. College
Football fans of good schools are greedy. They were bummed out they
only beat Buffalo by 24. Not a fan of running up the score. 2) walked
through a kite festival. Cosmo would no like,

Helped Alison Steward move her boxes. She is moving to New York. As
both Gwen Majors and Alison are moving to the Big Apple, I may go on
an inspection. Confederacy of Dunces should have had a sequel.

Stopped off at the Armenian festival.

Will be switching from DSL to a cable modem as the speeds have not
gotten any faster since I worked at Northpoint communications. Found
the self setup to frustrating and I think I am smarter than the
average middle ages peasant.

Went to the Urban Diversion Bon fire. I am considering always wearing
a name tag.

Lotion in Eye, an update

This morning my vision was no longer blurry and I was happy. Then I
got in the Marcusmobile and I felt like someone had poured stinging
pudding! Luckily I had sunglasses.

Walked around toil like I was going to a Frank Chu/Risky Business
conference. Frank Chu is two years older than Tom Cruise. I think
Frank Chu's world view makes more sense.

Had Margie Gray help me with eye drops as I have never put eye drops in.

I am in a FAR better mood as I no longer have any eye issues.

Palo Alto Craziness

I went to Palo Alto and it must have been a full moon.
Crossed the street mid block as the sidewalk was closed due to fire.
Saw that Palo Alto's finest were involved in taking someone into the
station. It turned out he was a flasher! (based on the witness
reports)

After going to NoLa's I was stopped on the street with some guy who
was playing the jazz flute.

Doctor My Eyes

For the most part, I could always count on the fact that my eyes could
see well but today everything was bleary or in some sort of haze.
I was concerned but then remembered I had put some lotion on my face.
Your not supposed to get lotion in your eyes which explained the
blurred vision.
I ran on the treadmill for two miles. I hate treadmill running.
Purchased a new pair of fred containers in San Carlos as I had a coupon.

22 years of the log

Before I forget I need to alienate my readership with a discussion of
a dream. My current work droogs were sent to Forestville, Maryland to
revive the Forestville Mall to its former glory. I spoke of how I used
to work at the Gap, Lerners and Kinneys.

It was 22 years ago that I was a freshman in high school. My time in
high school was very much like 90210, High School Musical, Grease, the
Breakfast Club or Saved By the Bell. I did go to the Prince Georges
County Fair with among others Kevin Rottman, John Stokes, Samantha
Smith, Courtney Reeves, et el.

As I am in Burma I do not have quick access to the Internet. One of
the many monkey servants rolled/then swam over on their rollerblades
to bring me a waterproof laptop to show that I had a comment on my
blog about one of my readers not understanding the context of random
maps.
I know that my writing style can be a bit difficult. Some of the
Greatest Blog reading groups try to recruit scholars that specialize
in writers such as James Joyce, Thomas Pynchon or Rick James to try
and keep up with how I move the language further.
The monkey assured me that he would not as wished by this 12100 Old
Colony Drive to random point in Ohio hurl nastiness at me and he
thought that it was probably the humanity in the DC area that may be
getting to him. The Monkey was happy with his lot in life. The entire
Monkey Staff was listening to Sheena Easton.

I then went to this outlet mall where I purchased some trousers from a
Banana Republic outlet. Was meeting my work droogs for an evening at
Dave & Busters. Went to the Farberware Outlet Store where I described
a can opener as "a device where you use your opposite of freds to free
the contents of metalic sphere that contains food". They looked dim
and said they had none. I then got the can opener and purchased it. I
am sure they were involved in a scholarly discussion on the angle that
a baseball hat should be worn.

Fairee

I am writing this at the Popa Mountain Resort, Bagan in Burma as I
took a last minute flight to this central Asian country. The big thing
to do in Burma is wave running. Every one has a monkey assistant that
goes out and gets stuff for you. They trained these monkeys to do
shopping so I gave him a list and he came back with a bag of Fuji
apples and some spinach. Tonight I am going to a place with a
mechanical bull.
One of my readers comment about the link from 12100 Old Colony Drive
to someplace in Ohio. They say they go on that ride. I use Google Maps
to illustrate how far I have run this year. I do think it odd that you
drove from my house in Marlton but I do know many fans are outside for
tomorrows celebration where they may go to Oxon Hill and the Prince
Georges County Fair!

Lookin' at his opposites of freds for the queues that were

After toiling I went to Drug Fair to get some icy hot for my fred
extensions as I was planning to run 6 miles as tomorrow is a rest day
as I am going to Dave & Busters with my work droogs!

Went to the Sawyer Camp trail. The first mile I ran at 9:54 and ended
at 6 miles at 10:36 per mile. I am thinking I am going to run my half
marathon at around 12 minute per mile. At every half mile I thought
of it as another round.
At mile 1.5 I happened across a whole mess of deer. What is the term
for a group of deer. I let some other runners scare them off as I did
not want to meet my maker on the sixth anniversary of 9 11 by some
radioactive deers.

After the run I went for a bowl of pho and some malinkey. Then picked
up my book on CD about Einstein.

Spoke to Andrea about 9/11 and how we were driving around in that
rental car in Waldorf and where the Amish were selling their wares.

Went to the hot tub in the club house as the upper one was drained.
One of the other citizens of crown colony introduced himself as Mark
and he kept asking my name which most readers know is Marcus. This
went on for a few minutes. The rest of the conversation centered
around wrecking motorbikes and although I hate parking, I am not going
to be getting a bike unless I can surround it with some sort of plasma
bubble.

It turns out that both Gwen Majors and Alison Steward will be moving
to New Jersey and New York respectively. I think I would not mind New
York in either October or April. I look enough like a New Yorker but I
do not think I would like the $12 drinks (unless they came with a
movie pass and some tokens)

Spiral Staircase Grocery Store

So it turns out they are multi level grocery stores in 1) Tokyo 2)
Budapest 3) London and 4) New York.
I found one in Daly City with Spiral Staircases but they were out of
items but I could not think of a wittier retort than "In the future
there will be two dances, the robot and the robot boogie". '

Ellie's final T I P

As I will be attending Brews on the Bay tomorrow I decided that I will
be sticking to iced tea and ice water.
Besides the BART ticket I spent no money. Maybe one day I will be able
to save up to get a touch screen iPod.
The reason for the T I P was that Ellie was returning to England to
work in a toffee shoppe or building rounder round abouts. It was a fun
night.

A litmus test involving Monkeys with dungarees and rollerblades

My volleyball season ended as we were eliminated from the playoffs. In
my mind I rationalized a performance of scoring points and avoiding my
area but I am not a great volleyball player.
Let one of my teammates listen to "Me and My Monkey" and she was made of wood.

The Side of the Road

When I visit my family in Churchton, MD I will walk into the greater
Deale commercial region where I will visit with such places as the $1
store and Wheelers Hardware (which although they do not sell T
Shirts?, they are the greatest hardware store in the world!)
It was somewhat uneventful until Andrea and I happened across a coffee
shoppe. I kept on asking when the folk singers where going to set up
but they did not seem to understand the reference. I could imagine if
I lived here me and my hip/urbane/sophisticated friends would meet up
to discuss the goings on in our lives. (the name of the place was
Fargin Bargins)
Everything is for sale and they had monkeys on top of the coolers. If
they had astronaut monkeys then they would have had a sale. Cool
Place.
Next we stopped off at Happy Harbor. So many happy places. Bunch of
the other patrons were motorcyclist. Had crab soup which is not that
complicated to make.
We then hit Calypso Bay and some of the other patrons discussed Hoth
and cutting open an animal for warmth. I then explained my theory
about Mark Hamil and the plot of the Empire Strikes Back. We got a
call and then walked back. Not a pedestrian friendly bridge.

The big excitement came when Andrea spotted a bag in the brush. I
retrieved it and it was full of 1) mail 2) a checkbook 3) a coffee mug
4) car cleaner 5) sunglasses. We called the person on the checkbook.
We imagined what had transpired.

Sat in the compound. Turned out the checks were stolen last year but
the mail belonged to someone else so the lovely demure lady was going
to the house where the mail belong to quiz the occupants. Could have
called the heat.

Jeffrey works at Ledo's Pizza. Hopefully he will learn how to make a
proper NEW YORK style pizza.

After he split we sat on the dock of the bay. I caught one crab but
then spared his life.

Jeff and I then went to Edgewater to pick up items for dinner
including ribs and spring rolls.

I will fire myself from trip planning.
