From London to Dunblane

So I finished the month of August with a good run near the Balboa.
Which puts me at 428 miles for the year or the equivalent of London to
Dunblane.

Cave Prize

I must applaud the lunch delivery service that arrived at my toiling
yesterday. Despite my thoughts on their route that they will be taking
to drive cross country in the winter.
I think their motivation is when people ask, "why do you drive such a
large car" they can say something about blizzards and work in how
Cosmo and Stelly both broke their leashes this week.

Another broken leash

Before I start on my blaw on what was going on in my life I have shocking news.
Stelly Belly broke her leash as well. So when I am at the compound, I
will be going on duty with two new leashes.

On my way from Santa Clara to San Francisco I must have disconnected
my brain as I got on 280 South so I had to get on San Jose to get to
the Marina.

Got good parking in the Marina so I ran to Warm things where I got
fancy dancy sheets (600 thread count).

I then ran to Sports Basement where I got one of those wicking running
shirts. I am at 65.2 miles for August.

We lost at volleyball but the games were somewhat close.
The service at City Tavern was boots.

What the heck does a Nor'easter have to do with the Pacific Northwest

Brian and Gwen are going to be driving cross country in November.
Besides the fact that Brian is a "member of the tribe" I would
recommend driving through the South. Gwen is from the South and would
have to speak with a heavy drawl and put on a Wallace 72 sticker on
their car.
They are going to drive through the Northern flyover states (rather
than the Southern flyover states) and they will end up like Luke
Skywalker in the Empire Strikes back.

Lucid Dreams in Daly City

I was having dinner in Daly City at Boulevard when the conversation
turned from the loss of a digital camera to lucid dreaming. To
demonstrate I melted the window and turned the air to cotton candy.

At the beginning of the month I set my monthly running target to 60
miles. A little less because I did not see myself running when I went
to Maryland (humanity makes it difficult). So I ran 3 miles because I
thought I had 2.8 miles to go but it turns out that I have another .2
miles to go. Tomorrow I will run to the shop to pick up the
Marcusmobile.

Went to the Worst Safeway to get rainchecks but once again the worst
safeway in all the world (Daly City Westlake is the WORST safeway)
told me they no longer give rainchecks on 10 for $10 items.

Fwd: Pictures from Today

It was a rather overcast day.
We lost 4 to 3 but the team is way better than last season.

I was 2 for 2 and for the first time in a few seasons I reached base
on a non bunt. Because of my lightning speed I am the lead off person.

Here are the pictures from today

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=47201&l=1e1ab&id=705175300

Had to ref a game and we lost track of innings.

Made my way across the park for the UD event and I got there after the
food was gone. You cannot play kickball 4 on 4. The highlight of the
game was the drafting of this Chinese fellow who was collecting cans.
For some strange reason they wanted to go to the Marina (we were near
the Ocean)

Went to Safeway where I got loads of rain checks for Blackberries and Spinach.

The 10 CommandMarcusments

So I was in Mountain View for a 10K.
Prior to the race starting I was walking around the booths and I saw
they were selling these stuffed versions of Ganesh. As I always
thought his story was cool I considered getting it but then thought
1) I really do not more stuff
2) If I brought it to work I could offend some people
3) Is'nt that a violation of the ten commandment (which would offend
others)

The race was smelly (it was along the bay where Google will be
putting the barges to house more people) but I was happy with my time
but the iPod was showing I ran 5.5 miles. Either way I finished the
10 K in 58 minutes.

Went to Sports Basement, Frys, Gas, the Farmers Market and the Library.

On another note

For some strange reason I said, "In the future there will be two
dances, the robot and the robot boogie".
Some hobo thought it was funny and was cracking up.

In Palo Alto

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=46689&l=82daf&id=705175300

Had a nice dinner with my former work droogs in Palo Alto.
It was the first time in a long time I went out for Sushi.

I am glad that Michael Vick will not be in the NFL for a couple of
games. I think all of the professional sports should hold a higher
level of conduct across the board. In fact colleges and high schools
should not allow the sports team to stand on a platform and throw eggs
at the Town folks.

On a side note Cosmo's leash broke.

My favorite English football team!

Taste of Victory: Volleyball

Whoever says it does not matter if you win or lose blah blah was a
total and utter prat.
We won 2 out of 3 games. It was good.

On another note I am up to 411 miles : )

Carrots and 12/20

Carrots can play a central role in many things.
I was in a really good mood that I will not be needing to purchase a
new Marcusmobile. They are many things I want to spend my pay envelope
on besides new cars.
A new car will make you happy BUT it is not a new car for long.

Last night had a nice dinner at Bella's on Geary. We did not make it
into trivia as it was crowded. Will be going next week.

Turns out one of my fellow toilers also had her check engine light
come on when I was in the car. What a horrible superpower.

Ran 4 miles according to the Nike iPod but I actually ran a bit more.
In the scheme of things it does not matter. I am considering running
the 10K on Saturday.
When I run the half marathon I may raise some money for Parkinsons
research. I would like to opposite a large check. If you are a reader
that would donate to the cause let me know.

Went to Lauren Dunn's fundraiser and i saw a HUGE St Bernard.

Kharmic Poo

As I had to get to toiling at 8AM AND get the Marcusmobile to the
shoppe I got up early to take the dogs for a walk. I was not looking
forward to the prospects of spending hundreds of dollars per month on
a new car.
In the darkness Raider did his business and I could not find it. It
would be bad kharma to live the dog poo in the fred path so I luckily
found it.
Made my way to Santa Clara to Brian's Auto Repair where I guess Brian
is a fictional character. The guy got in the Marcusmobile and he did
not think I had any major issues. He then drove me to work. I sure
hoped it was not a ruse to get my Marcusmobile.
He was amazed at the vast amount of carrots I had with me.
When I got to my desk I realized that my desk key was with the
Marcusmobile keys so I had to call someone to unlock my desk.

The good news is that I will not be spending loads and loads on a new
car. The Marcusmobile is fine and the repairs were done.
I was very Happy driving back.

Even though parking was difficult due to the he Festival of the Chariots

We had a great game. Whoever said, "it does not matter if you win or

A Day in the East Bay

This may come as a shock to those who know me but I was not always as
debonair and cool as I am now. Luckily for some dumb reason at the age
of 14 I decided that my life was worth documenting and when I was in
Maryland I mailed the box to myself and I picked it up at the Daly
City library (as I cannot get packages in my building)
In the queue for the post office I heard some kids ask their mum about
the bear being sold. As it was raising money for cancer research I
purchased the bear and gave it to the Mom and walked out. The other
patrons were amazed at my generosity. No, I was not hitting on the
Mom. I wanted to do something nice.
Went to the farmers market, the library (where I ran laps around the
park) and then drove to the East Bay for a hike with Urban Diversion.
http://www.ebparks.org/parks/pt_pinole
This woman brought her cute dog Kimberly. (I would have gotten a
picture but forgot my battery). I mostly listened to my iPod.
Here is a good song....
http://www.mikka.com/music/AmyWinehouse/01%20-%20Rehab.mp3

Afterwards I went to Fred Container Pavilion but the fred containers
were boots.
Walked into a blockbuster to see if Grindhouse was available (will be
sent as a cave prize) and I really hope that Michael Vick does not
become this thug icon. That would make me lose faith in peoples
judgement. (A woman who was working the counter was wearing a Micheal
Vick jersey)

I like the East Bay as they have some cool things but traffic is made
of wood. Made my way to the Grocery Outlet and I simply enjoyed the
slumming but did not find any Chimay.

Then went to Charles Chocolates which makes artisan chocolate.
http://www.charleschocolates.com/

Purchased iLife 08 from CompUSA.

Hit San Pablo avenue where I went to ACME. They were playing David
Allan Coe which is rare. The bar man told me that the hipsters are now
listening to country. I am decades ahead of hipsters. It is a cool
bar.

Against my better judgement I went to the meeting game at an Indian
Restaurant. At least I discovered a good indian joint.

Traffic back to the city sucked but I went the back way along 80.
Makes me feel clever.

Volleyball

Here is something of mild interest. I lost the chip that goes into the
iPod for the running. If you get a new chip. It does not work with
what was put into the fred containers.

On the way into the city I saw a brush fire.

We won one of two games and then went to the city Tavern.

Elvis

After toiling I went into the city to the UD happy Hour. Ran into
Elvin who told me this fantastic story that will be made into a
Shakespearan play.

30 years ago the King had a bad day. I went across the street and I
saw Mrs. Riding crying on the couch as she listened to an Elvis song.
My six year old self so she was sad so I turned off the record player.

A large group of people are at Graceland. They are crazy. If I lived
in Memphis I would be there.

Return to Hogwarts

After toiling I stopped off at Hogwarts for the best soup in the
history of soup.
Before opposite of fred I ran 3.1 miles. Tomorrow is a rest day. So
far this month I ran 31.2 miles.

Gwen is a copycat in the area of getting free passes on United. She
has been traveling quite a bit. Outside of going to Maryland I have
been doing no travel but it is mostly finding different sandwiches.

I saw a pug. I asked the person if at Pug Sunday they ever swap pugs
on accident or on purpose.

New Toil and carrots

I started my new toil. As I stated in the chart of things I like,
sitting in traffic and being rushed at the airport goes under things
that are boots and kickball/smell like vanilla lotion is good.
Ate a pound of carrots on the way into toil. I will try to use my
Nalgene bottle and making iced tea. Will try not to drink malinkey out
of plastic bottles.

Hot as the blazes

I went to Maryland this past week. I am glad I went and was able to
spend some time at the compound.
It was hot as the blazes. If you are selling tourism for the DC Area
do not sell the weather in August. I would go on about history and the
fact they have air conditioning.

Put loads of my photos on Flickr
http://www.flickr.com/photos/hydra1970/sets/72157601386498885/

I must say that Alley, Tommy and Andrea do better on little sleep and
hard travel than I do. Perhaps they should teach some sort of class.
That is why I avoid afternoon/night flights.

On Friday we got a bushel of crabs and we were able to get through the
whole bushel. I think each of us may go through a couple more crabs
compared to the last crab feast where I taught lessons.

Here are a couple things that I like,
1) People acting like I am an expert in something. For example eating
blue crabs or getting bumped off airlines (or today during kickball)
2) The smell of vanilla lotion (this is kind of off topic)

Took Andrea, Lynn, Tory and Carly to see Hairspray and I liked it way
more than I expected.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6CzxcXPKRM

Jeff went to China and based on his description of his trip, I think I
made the right choice between Australia and China.

It was really hot. Way hot but I am glad I made my way to Maryland.

Marcus gets hit in the head with a Tennis Ball at Zeitgest

This morning I went into San Francisco to run the Plate to Plate with
my new Nike Fred Containers. Was annoyed with the parking situation.
The available parking was $30 so I ended up parking in a 2 hour spot
.52 miles away.
It was a nice run. I need to start upping my mileage.
Was happy with my time even though I had to struggle through the masses.

Went to Zeitgest for a post race hamburger. A dog was present and
dropped a tennis ball at my feet so I guess the order of the day was
to kick the ball. I Kicked the ball but the dog would not allow the
ball passed so I lost interest.

While reading the New York Times (on Bonnie and Clyde) when something
out of the blue hit my head. I thought somehow the dog managed to hurl
the tennis ball at me but it was another person who was sorry. I was
not hurt so it was cool.

Played kickball and I was 1 for 1 with 1 BB and 2 runs scored.

Too darn hot....

http://www.artistdirect.com/nad/window/media/page/0,,874934-2311341-WMLO,00.html

I walked from the compound to the downtown Deale area to bother the
merchants. I was sad to see that Pub 44 is no more no more. : (

Went to the Dollar store which was well air conditioned. I told the
main opposite of fred I had no air conditioner in my house so he
thought I was poor. He probably looked at his lot in life and thought
at least I have an AC.

The lady in the liquor store did not allow me to take a photo of the
lime and lemon sign.

6.22 or Upper Marlboro, MD to Zanesville, OH

As I will be in Maryland from Wednesday and Saturday and based on the
weather report, I doubt I will be doing much running unless I am being
chased by the humidity monster I did a longer run for the second day
in a row to make up for a four day layoff.
I ran 6.22 miles to bring my yearly total to 382 or the equivalent of
running from Upper Marlboro, MD ro Zanesville, Ohio.
http://www.coz.org/
Based on the description I may stop at Al's Pizza Shop
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=&saddr=12100+Old+Colony+Drive,+Upper+Marlboro,+MD&daddr=Zanesville,+OH&sll=39.478606,-79.595947&sspn=3.764871,7.734375&ie=UTF8&ll=39.478606,-79.398193&spn=3.764871,7.734375&z=7&om=1

Was in San Mateo where I had library envy. Their farmers market was
the same as mine so no jealousy in that regards.

George 1992 to 2007 RIP

I got word that the longest tenured pet on the plate has passed and
has met his maker.

My favorite story about George involved him in cahots withs Cosmo. He
would get on the kitchen counter and knock food items for Cosmo to
eat.

Even though the Compound so many dogs both big and little, George was the boss.

He arrived shortly after the establishment of the compound.

He will be missed.

Muir Woods Hike

Andrea and I went to the Muir Woods to hike with Urban Diversion.
During the week I highly recommend taking the Muir Woods Shuttle
www.goldengate.org/organization/c/NewsPDFs/Rt66Pamphlet.pdf

Afterwards we went to Lunch at the Buckeye Roadhouse.

Got a jacket but the one at Luckys did not fit. Maybe I should have gone to Albertsons.

Cajun Pacific has returned. has returned....

Do not sing, "Thank God I'm a Country Boy"

Andrea and I went on a death march from the 24th Street and Mission Station all the way to the Embarcadaro. We stopped at a Taco Ria and a vietnamese place for two micro meals (and an Indian Ice Cream Joint) before making sure Zeitgest was OK.

We purchased band aids.

Walked down Market and then through North Beach and stopped off to sing Thank God I'm a Country Boy which is WAY HARDER than I expected. I am not a fan of Happy Hours where people go on a split bill.

Gave advice on volunteering for the beer festival but my hoof clomped down.

Vino Venue was also OK as they had loads of pugs.

Potion and Lotion

I like lotions that smell good.

Andrea and I went to the Daly City Farmers market, then to a potion/lotion store.

We made our way into the city where I picked up my tickets for the Giants/Nationals game as I am going to sell them.
Stopped by the pet adoption center.

Then to Zeitgest where we ate hamburgers. The character in Popeye would not make sense now as he could charge them.

Walked around the Marina and then to Volleyball.

Went to Fiddlers for a going away party.
